Guinevere Lyrics

She's got a bumper like a billboard
Covered in stickers of her favorita band
She's got a hangful of records that she turns to
When she needs to land
She's a saturday night parade through the streets
That all eyes some to see including me

She carries memories around like souvenirs down in her pockets
She should have let some go by now but can't seem to drop it
Says forgiveness ain't nothing but a lifeless tire on the shoulder of her soul
That never rolls

For as much as she stumbled she's runnin'
For as much as she runs she's still here
Always hoping to find something quicker than heaven
To make the damage of her days disappear
Just like Guinevere

She don't hold onto nothin' new for very long
Yeah she writes you in as just one more tale
and then you're gone
'Cause she once fell hard 'cause she dropped her guard
And no one gets to stay it's just too late

For as much as she stumbled she's runnin'
For as much as she runs she's still here
Always hoping to find something quicker than heaven
To make the damage of her days disappear
Just like Guinevere

For as much as she stumbled she's runnin'
For as much as she runs she's still here

For as much as she stumbled she's runnin'
For as much as she runs she's still here
Always hoping to find something quicker than heaven
To make the damage of her days disappear
Just like Guinevere
Just like Guinevere

Lean into me Guinevere
Be mine tonight Guinevere

In this song he is singing about a girl has a passion for music. She uses music as an escape when she needs it and to cope with the scars of her past. Through music she found herself again. Others sees her a smart, kind, talented and inspiring. She find joy in helping someone out of their own darkness.Although she has found a way to live with her past, she still hasn't master the part of letting go. She hangs on to resentments to gaits her heart from being hurt again. Her biggest fear is falling in love, she has no desire for what's so ever. The problem is, she easy to fall for when you get to know her. She finds this as her curse. That's why don't hold onto nothing new for very long. Once they start to fall in love she runs away, no goodbyes just good memories. He is singing to her to give into him and let him love her. Fact is, out of this whole story the only sad part is the guy singing is wasting his time. Her spirit is free, she's happy again and she chooses not to fall in love. Unlike most people, falling in love she no longer desire in her heart. That's who she is now and no one will change that.

My Interpretation

Guinevere has been portrayed as everything from a weak and opportunistic traitor to a fatally flawed but noble and virtuous gentlewoman. that's what the girl in the song is supposed to be portrayed as too that's what the singer is trying to say about the girl that he likes. she's run away from him because she doesn't want to hurt him (as guinevere hurt king arthur) but he still wants her even if she keeps running to lancelot(the guy she cheated on king arthur with) amazing song

This song isnt neccessarily about the historical figure Guinevere, but the song is using her as a basis for their comparison of the girl in the song that the singer loves. She runs to escape the hurt-filled past she created, but she remains still, stuck there because she knows she is the only one who can fix it. just as guinevere messed up her life with King Arthur. The song uses records for her to turn back to when she needs to land, basically saying she looks to the past to bring her back to reality because even though you run, the past never leaves you and just like that song stuck in your head, its hard to get away from. In my opinion, I LOVE THIS SONG. HAHAHAHA

It's about a girl who has been betrayed one too many times and so never trusts again. As a result she keeps on going round and round in circles never going anywhere. Sounds like too many people I know.

To me the song sounds like it is about a girl that the singer is fond of, she's well liked by everyone. She carries around the guilt and such things from the past, even though she doesn't need to. And she wants to get away from all of her problems, but she continues to stay in place. At first, not thinking the lyrics through, I thought possibly Guinevere was a friend of hers who had done away with herself, 'always looking to find something quicker than heaven to make the damage of her days disappear, just like Guinevere,' sounds quite like she is contemplating suicide. I may be completely wrong (!!!), but that's what the lyrics sounds like to me.

This song wow... I have never connected with a song more than I have guinevere. The lyrics are perfect but I will be sharing my interpretation of the meaning of this song with you. The main meaning of this song is about a girl (guinevere) who has been hurt many times and is trying to escape but keeps going around in circles. I feel like this song really describes me with multiple lyrics, I will be breaking down the song by verses and explaining their meaning to me. The first verse starts with, "she\'s got a bumper like a billboard, covered in stickers of her favorite band, she\'s got a handful of records that she turns to when she needs to land, she\'s a Saturday night parade through the streets, that all eyes some to see including me." In the second line, she\'s got a handful of records that she turns to when she needs to land, I feel like we are being told she listens to the same group of songs when she doesn\'t feel right or needs songs to cry to. The last lyric in this verse is, she\'s a Saturday night parade through the streets, that all eyes some to see including me, I feel like this means she\'s a girl who goes out every weekend and is popular so "all eyes come to see" (everyone comes to see her) but she puts on a smile to go out in public when she is breaking inside. The next verse starts with "she carries memories around like souvenirs down in her pockets, she should have let some go by now but can\'t seem to drop it, says forgiveness ain\'t nothing but a lifeless tire on the shoulder of her soul, that never rolls." The first line, she carries memories around like souvenirs down in her pockets; she should have let them go by now but can\'t seem to drop it, which means she is carrying the bad times and bad thoughts around when she really should let them go and stop reflecting on the past. The next line, she says forgiveness ain\'t nothing but a lifeless tire on the shoulder of her soul; that never rolls, means even if she forgives the person or prays about her sin it is not going to be giving her any closure, she is still going to feel guilty and it won\'t help her move on. Now for the chorus "for as much as she stumbled she\'s running, for as much as she runs, she\'s still here, always hoping to find something quicker than heaven, to make the damage of her days disappear, just like Guinevere, just like Guinevere." The first two lines in this verse have a very strong meaning to me. I\'m talking about the lines, for as much as she stumbled she\'s running; for as much as she runs she\'s still here, I oftentimes try to "run" away from my issues and end up "stumbling" or not getting anywhere away from my problem. The second part of this line, for as much as she runs she\'s still here, is also very important to me. I feel as much as I try to "run" to get away from my issues and problems, I\'m still stuck facing the same problems and I haven\'t gotten anywhere. The next verse "she don\'t hold onto nothing new for very long, yeah she writes you in as just one more tale, and then you\'re gone, cause she once fell hard cause she dropped her guard, and no one gets to stay it\'s just too late." The first line, she don\'t hold on to nothing new for very long, which means she\'s constantly changing her mind and getting rid of people and or things. The next line, yeah she writes you in as just one more tale; and then your gone, means you won\'t be around for long either becuase you\'ll get bored becuase she won\'t let you in on her life story shes been hurt too many times to just let anyone in or becuase she\'ll get bored of you and not want you anymore and move on. The next line, cause she once fell hard cause she dropped her guard; no one gets to stay it\'s just too late, means she was once hurt by a very toxic guy and he hurt her so now not just anyone is going to be getting her whole life story (not everyone is going to be accepted), and your not going to be around for long because it is too late to try and gain her trust. Basically, this song is the story of a girl who has been hurt by toxic guys that have broken her trust. If she tries to run away from a toxic guy, she will end up with another toxic guy and not be getting anywhere and get hurt again. She (Guinevere) uses music as her escape when needed as a coping mechanism to help her with the scars of her past. Many people see Guinevere as a smart, loving, talented, and inspiring young girl when in reality she is constantly fighting with her past. She has found a way to live with her past, she just hasn\'t fully mastered letting her past go. She is afraid of falling in love because she has finally found herself when the guy writing this song only wants her love. I hope you enjoyed and found a new meaning for this song!

My Interpretation

@sophialss Thank you for sharing this and sharing so much of you in interpreting it. I have loved this song for so many years because I feel so much like her (male version at least).

One of the writers of this song is Scooter Carusoe (his pen name, dont know his real name). Google search other songs written by him because he is fantastical with deep lyrics that make me constantly think, feel, laugh and cry.
