| Eli Young Band – Guinevere Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| This song wow... I have never connected with a song more than I have guinevere. The lyrics are perfect but I will be sharing my interpretation of the meaning of this song with you. The main meaning of this song is about a girl (guinevere) who has been hurt many times and is trying to escape but keeps going around in circles. I feel like this song really describes me with multiple lyrics, I will be breaking down the song by verses and explaining their meaning to me. The first verse starts with, "she\'s got a bumper like a billboard, covered in stickers of her favorite band, she\'s got a handful of records that she turns to when she needs to land, she\'s a Saturday night parade through the streets, that all eyes some to see including me." In the second line, she\'s got a handful of records that she turns to when she needs to land, I feel like we are being told she listens to the same group of songs when she doesn\'t feel right or needs songs to cry to. The last lyric in this verse is, she\'s a Saturday night parade through the streets, that all eyes some to see including me, I feel like this means she\'s a girl who goes out every weekend and is popular so "all eyes come to see" (everyone comes to see her) but she puts on a smile to go out in public when she is breaking inside. The next verse starts with "she carries memories around like souvenirs down in her pockets, she should have let some go by now but can\'t seem to drop it, says forgiveness ain\'t nothing but a lifeless tire on the shoulder of her soul, that never rolls." The first line, she carries memories around like souvenirs down in her pockets; she should have let them go by now but can\'t seem to drop it, which means she is carrying the bad times and bad thoughts around when she really should let them go and stop reflecting on the past. The next line, she says forgiveness ain\'t nothing but a lifeless tire on the shoulder of her soul; that never rolls, means even if she forgives the person or prays about her sin it is not going to be giving her any closure, she is still going to feel guilty and it won\'t help her move on. Now for the chorus "for as much as she stumbled she\'s running, for as much as she runs, she\'s still here, always hoping to find something quicker than heaven, to make the damage of her days disappear, just like Guinevere, just like Guinevere." The first two lines in this verse have a very strong meaning to me. I\'m talking about the lines, for as much as she stumbled she\'s running; for as much as she runs she\'s still here, I oftentimes try to "run" away from my issues and end up "stumbling" or not getting anywhere away from my problem. The second part of this line, for as much as she runs she\'s still here, is also very important to me. I feel as much as I try to "run" to get away from my issues and problems, I\'m still stuck facing the same problems and I haven\'t gotten anywhere. The next verse "she don\'t hold onto nothing new for very long, yeah she writes you in as just one more tale, and then you\'re gone, cause she once fell hard cause she dropped her guard, and no one gets to stay it\'s just too late." The first line, she don\'t hold on to nothing new for very long, which means she\'s constantly changing her mind and getting rid of people and or things. The next line, yeah she writes you in as just one more tale; and then your gone, means you won\'t be around for long either becuase you\'ll get bored becuase she won\'t let you in on her life story shes been hurt too many times to just let anyone in or becuase she\'ll get bored of you and not want you anymore and move on. The next line, cause she once fell hard cause she dropped her guard; no one gets to stay it\'s just too late, means she was once hurt by a very toxic guy and he hurt her so now not just anyone is going to be getting her whole life story (not everyone is going to be accepted), and your not going to be around for long because it is too late to try and gain her trust. Basically, this song is the story of a girl who has been hurt by toxic guys that have broken her trust. If she tries to run away from a toxic guy, she will end up with another toxic guy and not be getting anywhere and get hurt again. She (Guinevere) uses music as her escape when needed as a coping mechanism to help her with the scars of her past. Many people see Guinevere as a smart, loving, talented, and inspiring young girl when in reality she is constantly fighting with her past. She has found a way to live with her past, she just hasn\'t fully mastered letting her past go. She is afraid of falling in love because she has finally found herself when the guy writing this song only wants her love. I hope you enjoyed and found a new meaning for this song! | |
