Maybe I Am?

One of my most favouritest favourite tracks on the album. XrookieoftheyearX, i like your interpretation, but when I look at it from a bigger perspective, to me this song is about how hard it is to truly define who you are in this age of time. What you stand for, what you live for and what you truly believe in. There's so many religions, cultures, languages, different perspectives in this world, not to mention thoughts on what is really "right" or what is "wrong". Does God exists? or was it the apes? Does heaven exist or do we reincarnate? There are so many things you can believe in, but it's so very hard to when everything seems to contradict one another, and everyone tries to persaude you to see their point of view on all matters. The question mark title "Maybe I Am?" emphasises on how very easy it is for people to change their beliefs, attitudes and perceptions on a whim or just out of experience. The verses that begin with 'Maybe I'm a pessimist' and 'Maybe I'm an optimist', highlight that concept. I think the song also explores "meaning". As in what one thing means to a person may mean something completely different to another. I think it's also suggesting there's no such thing as a "one truth", there's always more that one interpretation and meaning to anything and ironically enough, songmeanings.net exemplifies that a lot.

First Comment=] The song is about not wanting to fit in or get along with someone else. He can't get everyone to understand why he is failing someone he loves. It seems that they simply cannot get along, despite others expectations he is trying to give reasons. He doesn't fit into the same mould and doesn't want to be treated like everyone else.

I think this song is about all the doubts you have when a relationship is failing. What's going wrong? Is it me, is it you? Can we fix this? etc...

This was the first song on the album I really fell in love with. Reminds me a lot of their older material.

Firstly the song is called 'Maybe I Am' I think the meaning to this song is the idea that I am what I am. It was written because someone said the the singer that his Lyrics were too complex for todays youth and should dumb them down. But I think it goes deep than that now. "Just not clever enough to persuade Everyone of the reasons We're failing each other" This could be the idea that the songs are not being understood by people or that he isnt pleasing the person who made the first complaint. Though I think the whole idea is to "I am what I am and im not going to change!"

My thoughts about the song are as follows:

To me, this song is portraying a person who is confused about their relationship with there partner. The relationship is heading towards the end and they are unable to recognize their faults.

I think this song says 'find yourself'. He(her) don't know he is pessimist or optimist. He have no confidence of what he is. He is not clever enough to persuade someone, or even himself. And everyone is same. Everyone don't know who are they. He knows it, but he wants more. He wants to know himself, so he pack up his bags and leave.
