Power Trip Ballad Lyrics

The way in which I feel
Is solely a reflection of you
The devastating childhood
The power trip you forced me through

But how could he leave you
How could he fuck that whore he left you for, get revenge
And by all means ask your nine year old daughter
To choose between you, don't stay friends

Now let her in on how he's the devil
He's just been falsely portrayed
But force her to go stay at his house once a week
Because you wanna get laid
Ha ha ha ha

Ask me why he scares me
Do you wanna know why I'm angry?
Can't you tell I'm crying?
Mother I don't feel good

You will always be the bitter, saddest part of me

Your girl's in the bathroom
Washing her hands again, why doesn't she eat?
Her father left us, what about me?
I can't rest, I can't sleep

Mummy loves you, I'm just tired
Of you and your brother's shit
And I didn't mean to hit you
But you were asking for it
Hahaha

Ask me why she scares me
Do you wanna know I'm angry?
Can't you tell I'm crying?
Mother I don't feel good

You will always be the bitter, saddest part of me...

Cover art for Power Trip Ballad lyrics by Maria Mena

a very powerful song about the effects of divorce from the point of view of the child and how it effects him/her, very devastating...mostly an attack on her mother

my favorite song on the album

More powerfully, it's written about her own childhood. "Why doesn't she eat" part is referring to her having an eating disorder as a child. Her parents also got divorced when she was 9.

Sounds to me like her parents split up, she stayed with her mother and this song describes the dysfunctional relationship between them. Her mother having new boyfriends and "wittering" about her dad.

"Your girl's in the bathroom washing her hands again Why doesn't she eat?"

Girls with anorexia often pretend to go to the bathroom for harmless reasons to throw up.

i think "wittering" is supposed to be "let her in" and "your other shit" is supposed to be "your brother's shit." oh, and it should be "ask me why she scares me," not "ask she scared me."

This song is definitely about domestic abuse.

I think is my favourite on Cause and Effect, I can't wait to buy it!

The whole album is amazing, I was waiting for this album so much and it didn't dissapoint me.
