Upon The Shores Lyrics

Wandering endlessly upon the shores
For something that I will never attain
Banished here for a life of nothingness
My only comfort is the sand I bleed on

Hope is gone, it will never be the same
All I feel are the repeated stings of pain
Pungent stench of the sins of the worthless ones
Faithless cries of the sins of the godless ones

Marching on in deathly silence
Upon the shores we go
Crashing tides applaud the violence
Upon the shores we go

I'm dying endlessly upon the shores
For something that I will never attain
Tortured here for a life of nothingness
My only comfort is the sand I die on

Hope is gone, it will never be the same
All I feel are the repeated stings of pain
Pungent stench of the sins of the worthless ones
Faithless cries of the sins of the godless ones

Marching on in deathly silence
Upon the shores we go
Crashing tides applaud the violence
Upon the shores we go

Charon, is this the fate for me
Is the Obolus all I pay
Cursed to wander the shores of Acheron
My eyes must have been missing silver coins

Solo: MKH

Maggots drinking the blood of me
Insects licking the tears I weep
Hornets piercing, while wasps are breaking
Every single fucking inch of skin on me

solo: CKB

Hope is gone, it will never be the same
All I feel are the repeated stings of pain
Pungent stench of the sins of the worthless ones
Faithless cries of the sins of the godless ones

Marching on in deathly silence
Upon the shores we go
Crashing tides applaud the violence
Upon the shores we go

This is about the Epic poem The Divide Comedy- Detailing Dante's views of hell in the Inferno. The godless and worthless reside in Limbo. Wrath and Sloth fighting and trampling eachother in the river (Styx?). Acheron is a river in Hades where shades wander and "sing" and Charon is a ferryman who brings the dead to hell

I believe that this song is about D-Day to be honest. Although D-Day was successfull, in the eyes of the allied forces, there were thousands of casualties and deaths. Lets think about it, the song talks about going onto shores, this relates to D-Day, the it says, For Something I Will Never Attain, is Matt looking through the eyes of someone with no faith, or someone who is about to suffer?
It then goes on to talk about wandering the shores of Acheron, Acheron, in greek mythology, is the river of pain. Thats just a few points that make me believe it about D-Day. Awesome song A+
