Cocaine Skin Lyrics

I've collected your letters
and put them in a place
that you don't know

and these winter words are the next big things
we'll put on a show

so if you leave
can i go?
it's your key
I guess I'm not

some woman's face down with a mexican
on the side of the road
and she said "its time for the strongest groups of could have beens
to let go"

so if I leave
will you come?
so it's a dream
if they really want

it's a firing squad
it's a firing squad

before I slept on my mattress last night
I smelled your clothes
there were flakes of skin beside your hoodie
I put them up my nose

and I know these facts are just replacement highs
so not to love
and the blue eye'd clubs still have some memberships
but we'll say no

so lets leave
then let's just go
it's a dream
a dream we'll know

they're a firing squad
they're a firing squad
they're a firing squad

I think he is saying that her skin gets him high like it is cocaine. He is high on her. I don't believe this song is actually about drugs and being hooked on them. But what you're saying about running from the addiction is very correct. Except the addiction is one another, not cocaine. He is in love and he can't seem to escape that. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just how I see it. Oh, and also, I believe the line "And she said 'it's time for the strongest groups of coolness to let go.'" Should actually be "And she said 'it's time for the strongest grips of could-have-beens to let go.'" -This one would make more sense with the context if the song, too.

I literally don't know what one tree hill is but i hate that people know this song from that show that I am assuming is retarded. I'm not completely sure what this song was written about (obviously coke in some way i guess). I think it is about someone who is addicted to coke but the song is glorifying it in a sarcastic (amazing) way. The guitar is really chill and upbeat as opposed to most songs about drugs.

so if you leave you cannot go

if you leave you cannot go could be describing the attempts to run from the addiction, but you can't really escape that easily. the name "cocaine skin" definitely relates to the "flakes of skin by your hoodie i put in my nose" or whatever. Once you are on drugs, you aren't just getting high - you are drowned in it. In your veins, in your skin, in your heart, in your mind. thats why he basically says he is snorting flakes of skin because the skin is "cocaine skin". He is saying that she is so hooked on coke that he can get high off her skin (I'm assuming he is talking about a chick). anyway, someone write something so i can get someone else's opinion.
