Josey Lyrics
The drinks are flowing
Just like the river
Then she keeps going
The whole night ends up a blur
She's got no limit
She thinks she's so tough
Can't walk a straight line
At the end of the night, she's rough
Her dress whispers reckless
The night starts now
As she slips on her necklace
Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Someday you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's all right
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter
Just do something
She's ready to roll
Tonight is different
She'll start it off slow
To keep herself in check
Oh no, oh no
It's two for one
She starts the show
And now from this moment on
She's done
Her dress whispers reckless
The night starts now
As she slips on her necklace
Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Someday you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's all right
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter
Just do something
The party is tonight
And she thinks they're playing her song
The party is tonight
And it's playing all night long
Josey, don't you worry
It's just a phase you're going through
Someday you'll know just what to do
Josey, it's all right
Slap the hand that just keeps pouring
It doesn't matter
Just do something
Just like the river

This song is about a friend "Josey" who is going through a hard time, and pretty much drowns her sorrows in alcohol and men. "it's just a phase your going through" is saying that the girl will get over it eventually. "slap that hand that keeps pouring it doesnt matter just do something" is saying that she should stop drinking and she should do something other than drink.
I was actully kind of wondering if maybe this song is a self reflection. She's relizing that her life is kind of on a road to nowhere...but "it's just a phase" and eventaully she'll figure something out. I would really love to know the real inspiration for this song. I kind of think it's less about a friend and more about self realization.
i agree with cinematicheart.
agreed with cinematicheart.
(you say they are the new paramore, you obviously have a hard time understanding music.)
i love this song! haha, i like the meaning or whatever. haha, yea. im listening to the ready set! :))
They didn't play this song when they opened for fall out boy. :[
I think the song is about a girl they knew. I'm guessing she went to clubs and bars a lot and got drunk most nights because she decided it would be fun at first, she probably got hooked. The line "her dress/whispers reckless" sasy to me that she could have been loose with herself a few times.
The only line I coudln't understand the maening of was ... "slips on her necklace" Do they mean literally..?
I adore this song though. Ironic that it's esentially about an alcoholic but it's up tempo...
It's a girl who has completely put herself out there and the singer is trying to tell it's going to be okay basically.
Casadee actually says what this song is supposed to mean in an interview and she said it's about all the girls she used to know that were bad influences on her. she goes on to say that none of them are actually named josey, the name just fit with the song.
