Doubtful

This song is by far one of my favorites of Gregory and the Hawk, I can't believe it doesn't have more comments. Her voice and the tune is just so beaaaautiful.

I'll have a shot at this,

A tough decision. ) 'Cause where will I go when I'm feeling blue? ( She goes to him for everything, who's she going to go to after all this ? )

Spinnin' my wheels Wastin' my time Makin' you feel you've nothing to hide ( Spinning her wheels, and getting her hopes up. Wasting her time because nothing is going to happen. I'm not quite sure about the "makin' you feel you've nothing to hide" part. )

So save me and tell me how it all got so doubtful ( She wants to know what happened, what went wrong to get where they are now. In a mess. ) Leave me nothing now Back on the old road ( She doesn't want anything from him after this? She's going back to the beginning, before him. ) You're wishing you'll wind me down Give me a mouthful And leave me nothing now ( I can think of several ways to reword this, maybe he wants to gradually let her go, or maybe.. Hm. I'm not quite sure about this one either. )

So chalk it up to the drone Hack it out, wear it down Where will you go when you're feeling blue? ( He's feeling guilty? Missing her.. Maybe )

GOSH ! I dunno, I just adore this song. So much!

she sings "leave me nothing now" not "leave me nothing at all" i adore this song a relationship/friendship is going sour between two people, and it hurts to end it but its best if they just part ways

To me it's clearly about their relationship falling apart, becoming doubtful of the relationship and eachother.

The step is likely time apart or something on that level. Could also be straight up breaking up. She knows she will feel lonely and no longer have someone to help her in tough times. The "making you feel you've nothing to hide" part makes me think she wants him to open up completely. Better to sort things out than let them eat at you.

She wants to be saved from blaming herself and to be able to go back to the time before him. She hopes he gets mad and says it all; making it clear that this is the right thing to do: seperation.

I think that's the main thought behind the song. It's very touching.
