Two Birds Stoned At Once Lyrics
so, here i am again.
both of my eyes so, open wide and gleaming.
blank stares, with races running only an inch behind.
sit back and watch the pavement get closer as it aims for your face.
so step back, let me take over.
can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures.
rising like giants out of the shadows.
they're crawling out.
they're crawling out of our skin.
here i am again.
we build ourselves, where monsters used to hide.
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity.
my feelings crawl the walls.
they crawl the walls, and finally fall.
they finally fall.
like empires and old loves.
and we're all whores, some of us just get paid.
both of my eyes so, open wide and gleaming.
blank stares, with races running only an inch behind.
sit back and watch the pavement get closer as it aims for your face.
so step back, let me take over.
can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures.
rising like giants out of the shadows.
they're crawling out.
they're crawling out of our skin.
here i am again.
we build ourselves, where monsters used to hide.
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity.
my feelings crawl the walls.
they crawl the walls, and finally fall.
they finally fall.
like empires and old loves.
and we're all whores, some of us just get paid.

This is an excellent song.
"We build ourselves, where monsters used to hide."
I have a couple of opinions on this. I think this line either means that humans can do horrible things, but have the ability to put those events in the past and make an entirely new life. Or, this line can be taken in an almost cynical sense, saying we are all monsters because we are all capable of destruction and terror. However, once again, humans have the ability to repress cruelty either genuinely or behind a false front.
"Oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity."
Wow. This is probably one of the most underappreciated lines written by Chiodos. So here's my rant-
The meaning of this is so true, especially in the world today. Just about every human being is taught from birth to strive for what is considered to be a 'purposeful' or 'fulfilling' life. This 'ideal life' basically includes completing school, obtaining a six figure job, getting married, having children, and living in a big house with a white picket fence. This is what is expected from us, even though, (surprise), there can be so much more to life.
Everyone claims to support expression and creativity. But guess what? Society looks down on homeless people, people who live in their cars, aspiring musicians and artists, people who work in certain industries, and everyone else who doesn't want to live out the 'American Dream'. That is the definition of hipocracy. Maybe these people just want to live for themselves, live for something greater than everyone else's expectations. Unoriginality and mediocrity are very much celebrated in our world. Anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves.

Society doesnt look down on them you idiot. Even the government supports people like that, Givesthem money to continue their work.

What are you talking about, The American Dream is whatever you want it to be. There is no designated 'dream' so to speak. I think your reading to much into his lyric.

The energy of this song pwnz.
I have to disagree, the energy of this is most excellent but the word 'pwnz' i believe does not exist. Adeluz i believe you to be mentally retarded, and you should be put down for your idiocy

this song...is...breathtaking lol im in love with it i think its about the darkness in us all and how craig or the person of the song just wants to let it all out and that whores line is freakin sick
Saw them perform this song live about a week ago. F*ing brilliant. Can't wait for the re-release of BPB.
i know it doesn't make sense but isn't it "can you hear the silhouettes?"? just thought thats what he said..
and i think the songs about someone going insane. or the mind of someone thats schizophrenic, and craig is the bad/dark side of their mind is "taking over" and making them commit suicide or making the person do bad things..something like that, but then again that sounds crazy soo....i dun know..
It's hear the silhouttes.

The silhouettes symbolize the evil things he is giving in to and the fact that he used to be strong and now he is falling (they finally fall like empires and old loves) and he is just sitting back and letting it happen and he's upset about what he is doing.
