I don't like this song. I love ani as much as the next crazy righteous babe. but this song seems to be a little more pressurized. Like maybe this song didn't just come. like the chorus about being stuck in traffic with quints just seems... forced. Not my fave.
I agree with the it being forced or something somehow, something about it just doesn't sit right but I love the song for the message. Just saying that no matter what comes, as long as I'm with you, I'll be happy.
I'm surprised by the previous comments! I love this song, it's so beautiful. And yes the chorus is completely different than the verse, but I think it flows well. Not only is the message extremely tru and honest, but she writes in such a profound style.
I fell in love with Ani shortly after the release of Not a Pretty Girl, while I was still in high school, for its politically charged lyrics that still mark many of her new releases to this day.
This is not one of those songs, and the subject matter is actually even on par with the same reason I couldn't stand Dilate when it first came out.
But, with that said, I was a self-righteous angsty 16 year old then, and now I'm 27 years old, recently wed to someone who actually incites those same feelings of "smiling underneath", and even just listening to this song on my commute this morning made me forget to frown and panic long enough to adorn a few carefree, grateful smiles for a change;)
