The Shivers (I've Got 'Em) Lyrics

I caught a bad case of the shivers
I caught a bad case of the blues
And I've got some bad news for you
Some bad news for you.

I was in trouble with the law
Serious trouble with the law
And I want to get you alone
Peel off the clothes

Evelyn, your spine cracks like a wineglass
Evelyn, your spine cracks
Evelyn your spine cracks like a wineglass
Evelyn, your spine cracks

I was a lonely captive of your silhouette
And I am bugging me so pass me the slug
I want to gouge out your eyes, splinter your spine
I want to gouge out your eyes, splinter your spine

Evelyn, your skull pops like a walnut
Evelyn, your skull pops
Evelyn, your skull pops like a walnut
Evelyn

Am I the only person who enjoys this song because I love it.

I clearly hear: "Peel off your clothes," in the 2nd stanza, "I was the loneliest captive of your silhouette," as well as well as "I am bugging, so pass me the slug," in the fourth stanza.

I really can't figure out what the meaning of this song is. Several of M & tNSS's songs have the some themes of violence and sex, like Real Naked Girls and Hello Vagina. I think this might mean the line between sex and violence/love and hate is very thin. I also get the feeling it's about obsession, and how you grow to hate, who you love, because you can never have them. The lyrics seem to call for a more extreme interpretation than that, however.

i might be dumb, but i'm pretty sure it's "evelyn your skull pops like a walnut".

"walnut" matches up with the simile of evelyn's spine cracking like a wineglass much better than "woman", and just generally makes more sense, since we pop walnuts open much more frequently than we do women :)

The beginning "bad case of the shivers refers to withdrawl of pills.

This song sounds so much like it has to do with the book American Psycho. I could definitely be wrong, but the sexuality and violence mixed together are a big tip off, plus there is a girl in the book named Evelyn. I don't know. It would definitely be an interesting reference, though.
