This song is about the book A Child Called "It" Basically, David (or It, or That Boy) wants to be rescued from his mother, who abuses, torments, and labours him to no end. I highly suggest you read the book. *It is very sad and expresses alot too.

Um....how do you figure? Can you please prove this, or at least back it up with some kind of source, cause I see absolutely NO correlation whatsoever.

I thought it was more about meeting the one person who really changes your life and "rescues you" and helps you for the best...makes sense to me.

"Buckcherry rolls into another kind of childhood on another couple of songs. Dave Pelzer's book, A Child Called “It”, about a horrific case of child abuse in California, yielded two songs for BLACK BUTTERFLY – "Child Called It" and the redemptive "Rescue Me." Todd says of A Child Called “It,” there were times when I had to put the book down because the abuse of this boy was so bad, but I felt like the book found me… I was compelled to write this song out of inspiration from this guy’s incredible journey.” "...
