Rainy Day Parade Lyrics
You the great pretenders, blood to paint your pictures
While you're stepping over fallen people lying in the streets
You the great offenders, only your views matter
While your heart grows colder, I wish that you could open up and feel
For a while see if you can take it
Feel, you're alive and this is all part of it
Feel, could it be that we're all afraid
Cause it feels like a rainy day parade
We the great believers, blood is legal tender
I will not surrender what it was our fathers died to bear
We the people stated, not negotiated
Just to be forgotten, I wish that you could open up and see
For a while see if you can take it
See, you're alive and this is all part of it
See, can't you see that we're all afraid
Cause it seems like a rainy day parade
What I see is all too real
What I need is what you steal
And all I reap is what you take
Upon my back on which you break
I just wish that we could rise above and feel
For a while see if you can take it
Feel, you're alive and this is all part of it
Feel could it be that we're all afraid
Cause it feels like a rainy day parade
While you're stepping over fallen people lying in the streets
You the great offenders, only your views matter
While your heart grows colder, I wish that you could open up and feel
Feel, you're alive and this is all part of it
Feel, could it be that we're all afraid
Cause it feels like a rainy day parade
I will not surrender what it was our fathers died to bear
We the people stated, not negotiated
Just to be forgotten, I wish that you could open up and see
See, you're alive and this is all part of it
See, can't you see that we're all afraid
Cause it seems like a rainy day parade
What I need is what you steal
And all I reap is what you take
Upon my back on which you break
I just wish that we could rise above and feel
Feel, you're alive and this is all part of it
Feel could it be that we're all afraid
Cause it feels like a rainy day parade

Is it just me, or does this song sound like "Suffer" recycled? The intor, the bass line, and the drums sound extremely similar. Too bad Staind is recycling songs... They WERE awesome... they're too mainstream now.
i find this song quite amazing. kinda angry kinda sad at the same time. cant beat that
Well this may be lengthy, but here goes. I think this is a "Wake up and open your eyes, America!" song. Starting off:
"You the great pretenders, blood to paint your pictures While you're stepping over fallen people lying in the streets"
Obviously, about posers, who create drama and don't care who it is that is already down that they ignore and hurt.
"You the great offenders, only your views matter While your heart grows colder, I wish that you could open up and feel"
People who push their views on others and never accept the fact that others can have their own beliefs, they never respect them, and thus they grow cold in that aspect.
"For a while see if you can take it Feel, you're alive and this is all part of it Feel, could it be that we're all afraid Cause it feels like a rainy day parade"
Offering to join in and see that we're all connected and we all feel the same fear over the darkness of the times we live in.
"We the great believers, blood is legal tender I will not surrender what it was our fathers died to bear We the people stated, not negotiated* Just to be forgotten, I wish that you could open up and see"
A very patriotic and powerful section, if you're an American, you obviously can understand the first two lines. The second two, the former of them being my favorite of the song, are saying "We stated that we shall be our own nation, we didn't negotiate it, but everyone seems to have forgotten that, and don't realize that with people that refuse to negotiate, combat is the only way".
"What I see is all too real What I need is what you steal And all I reap is what you take Upon my back on which you break I just wish that we could rise above and feel"
Harder part for me to interpret... I'm guessing, "What I'm talking about is serious, you refuse to give what is needed, and what I try to speak out you just ignore, you stress me, and I just want all of us to get above all of this and be unified"
Probably full of holes or whatever, but it's what I think. I love this song a lot, and it further strengthens my American pride.
To me, this seems to be a somewhat political song: about how elected politicians have failed the people they are supposed to serve because all they care about are the things important to them personally and they do not give the people they serve the things they really need.
