Nah it's clearly about one of his children. The lyrics aren't so metaphorical as you think, "You've got my blood in your veins". Pretty literal really. I was sad when I figured this out, I was hoping it'd be about him loving me.

I could be totally wrong, but I take it as him struggling through the motions of the day-to-day scenarios of a Mon-Fri lifestyle (work, etc..) He longs for his children, but can't be with them all the time, for whatever reason. However, just the thought of seeing them at the weekend inspires him and lifts his spirits until he is able to see them Friday nights through the weekend.

I absolutely adore this song! It's so wonderful it is, the lyrics are beautiful.
I think this song, is just about someone you truly love and how that person, can make you feel wonderful inside yourself emotionally. Making them in effect a star to you.

I think it's about Kelly's dad with the lyrics just watching you is an education Kelly's dad was a musician and I think that's where kelly was inspired from its an unbelievable song I love it
