I'm Outta Time Lyrics

Here's a song
It reminds me of when we were young
Looking back at all the things we'd done
You gotta keep on keeping on

Out to sea
It's the only place I honestly
Can get myself some peace of mind
You know it's getting hard to fly

If I'm to fall
Would you be there to applaud
Or would you hide behind them all?
'cos if I am to go
In my heart you'd grow
And that's where you belong

Guess I'm outta time

this is missing the lalalalalala at the start...

Ripper of a song, absolutley brilliant. If i do something and fail at it, will you be there to applaud (applaud me for trying) or would you hide behind them all (pretend that you don't know me). The out of time bit means perhaps hes too late to repair some sorrt of damage he'd done. If it follows a kind of continuing story from the shock of the lightning, maybe he is telling the girl he loves her and asking if she could eer love him back.

I read somewhere that this is written for John Lennon & it took nearly 6 yrs to write. So I’ve been repeating this song over and over, trying to connect the song to John Lennon. And I think I may have found the meaning.

(1st verse is st8 forward it means exactly what is said. Reminiscing about the past everything from the good & bad & right & wrong. You’ve got to continue life, there’s nothing u can do to go back and change anything)

(2nd verse he talks about the pressure's of life with regard to his...

The john lennon sample makes it sound so spooky, and i cant help but think this is more directed towards john lennon. Theres the sample of piano from 'a day in the life' before the chorus, subtle but must be deliberately leaning towards john lennons masterpiece (one of many). beautiful song

"If I'm to fall Would you be there to applaud Or would you hide behind them all"

I thought of a better way to describe the impression I get from that line. It's like it's no longer just two brothers and one is making fun of the other, which is alright because that's what brothers do and it means they've got a certain closeness. But that relationship becomes polluted by all of the world that is now a part of it. So it's not just two brothers in a room, one making fun of the other for failing, now it's like it's one brother and the whole world making fun of the other. And I don't even mean it's like they're ganging up on him, but it's like there isn't that close private relationship between them, there are crowds of people invloved. That's the image I get from that line anyway.

There's a great imagery with that line. I think both are negative. Either you're there applauding, happy that I failed; or you're part of a crowd laughing at me for failing. Great line, maybe directed at Noel?

I never really liked Oasis, this is the first song that I ever heard to the band and I really liked.

The lyrics are missing, there is that quote from a John Lennon's interview towards the end,

"As Churchill said, it's every Englishman's inalienable right to live where the hell he likes. What's it going to do, vanish? Is it not going to be there when I get back?"

Very captivating, it just keeps ringing into your head till you listen to it at least 3 times in a row lol. About the meanings I think that bigrobbo dude probably got the most sense out of it.

well i was in class today and singin the part of the song "If I'm to fall Would you be there to applaud Or would you hide behind them all" and i remembered that i read this album has some to do with biblical messages or whatever and the thought of what that line means came to my mind. Completely random and i have no idea about the other parts of the song but oh well: Maybe it is referring to when Jesus was arrested and was denyed three times by Peter. "Would you be there" or "hide behind them all" haah just a thought

Yeah I agree that one major strand of meaning in this song is biblical, but imo the "falling" is meant to recall Jesus falling three times when carrying his cross to Calvary. No coincidence that the bridge is sung three times.

The song is intended to sound like a swansong signalling the end of Oasis's career: they are saying that, like Jesus on the cross, their work is done. John Lennon also said that his band were "bigger than Jesus" (in 1966, a few years before the end of the Beatles), and his voice is sampled at the...

(2nd verse he talks about the pressure's of life with regard to his career, the success they had in the mid 90’s and how it’s getting hard to duplicate. And that the only place where he can get away from it all is out to sea.)

(chorus: ‘If im to fall & im outta time’ could mean he knows he’s getting on and if he was to die, and meet John in the after life…and the people that mean the most to him, applaud in respect at all that he has done. And keep his memory alive. Or would his loved one’s continue life just like each and everyone in the modern world, on the brink of forgetting Liam and all that he has done all the while his heart still holds them dear even in the after life!!!)

BIGROBBA didnt get shyteeeee, i think im spot on! does anyone else agree???

Ur absolutely right batista07. This song wasnt dedicated to John Lennon, it was ABOUT him. After he split from the Beatles, John went on a sailing trip and discovered his love for music again "Out to sea It's the only place I honestly Can get myself some peace of mind" Liam writes "If I'm to fall Would you be there to applaud Or would you hide behind them all?" and refers to when John was shot. It is John saying these words to his killer,Mark Chapman who was a Beatles fan. "would you be there to applaud" But soon thought...

This song makes me remeber my grandfather. This song was playing repeatly in my mind the day he died. I really love this song, but I can't listen to it without feeling sad.

Anyway, I think this is about Noel. I think they love each other - yep, it's in a curious and strange way but, in my opinion, it stills love.

"Here's a song It reminds me of when we were young Looking back at all the things we'd done You gotta keep on keeping on" >> About their childhood and what they've done in Oasis. The last line sounds like "I know Oasis will be soon over, but don't stop playing and singing"

"Out to sea It's the only place I honestly Can get myself some peace of mind You know it's getting hard to fly" >> Basically, this part is about how their relationship was getting unbearable

"If I'm to fall Would you be there to applaud Or would you hide behind them all? 'cos if I am to go In my heart you'd grow And that's where you belong" >> Will you support me? Or will you laugh at me? I'm leaving, but I still love you.

[Yeah, I know it was Noel who quit the band, but I'm sure Oasis wouldn't last much longer]

"Guess I'm outta time" >> It's time I left the band (Oasis, with Noel).

Wow, why did I write so many times "this song"? LOL
