It's funny, I am in no way a religious person, but this song always reminded me of the way people speak about a loving God.
to me this song is about an incredible person, the most incredible. about someone who does everyone for everyone asking nothing in return. all these things they do go unappreciated by so many until these people go out into the world without this person & realise there's no-one else quite like them.
it's so simple & so very beautiful. i feel like it was written about my best friend but luckily i've already realised this is how she is.
this song reminds me of my boy friend. everything. he's outstanding. if he had 3 things and i needed one, he'd give me 2. the last few months, alot of stress has happen. he's the only person i run to. without him i don't know where i would be in life right now. wish more guys where out there who would do this? we need more. took me 26 years to find one. lol

i think he's saying that his friend's gf/ lover has left him but if he stays a friend and stays beside her as a friend, she will find her heart and see that the best lover is a friend.
