Am I being way too thoughtful because whenever I listen to this I get the feeling she's taking the piss? Like out of the people who only think about sexytime and who's lives revolve around boys buying them things. I don't know it's just when the backing singers sing with her it feels like she's taking the piss out of people like Paris Hilton. Especially when she says the bit about the Killers, she doesn't strike me as a Killers fan... I'm gonna feel like a right schmuck when she turns out to be friends with Paris Hilton! I love Lady GaGa but I really hope this is about more than just boys.

I agree with justlisten. And Raffish, this song doesn't have to be either/or. I think it's meant to be both. What I mean by that is I think this song applies to many different meanings, mainly that she likes boys, obviously, and also that she feels kind of silly about how much she likes them.

I see this song, and the rest of the album, in a kind of satirical, self-deprecating light. I say that because I think GaGa sometimes feels a little stupid about what she does sometimes, but she has fun with it; she's aware of her weaknesses (obsession with boys, fame, et cetera) and often remarks about them, but she enjoys it and does her own thing.

If you listen to the entire album critically--mainly the title song, The Fame--I believe you'll notice the satire in her music, though it's certainly intertwined with a bit of truth about herself as well.

It's important to keep in mind that songs can have multiple meanings like this instead of thinking so linearly.

I think this song is about bisexual boys who happen to be really feminine ('hairspray and denim'). I was lucky enough to see her in concert the other night, best night of my life, and she said 'This ones for my gay boys!'

She then, later on, said 'Everyone, this is (can't remember his name), one of my dancers. You know why I love him? He loves american girls. You wanna know why else I love him? He loves... american boys.'

I just think she loves it, being a bisexual herself, haha! :)
