Cold Desert Lyrics
I'm on a corner, waiting for a light to come on
That's when I know that you're alone
It's cold in the desert, water never sees the ground
Special unspoken without sound
Told me you loved me, that I'd never die alone
Hand over your heart, let's go home
Everyone noticed, everyone has seen the signs
I've always been known to cross lines
I never ever cried when I was feeling down
I've always been scared of the sound
Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load
I'm too young to feel this old
Is it you, is it me
Or does nobody know, nobody see
Nobody but me.
That's when I know that you're alone
It's cold in the desert, water never sees the ground
Special unspoken without sound
Hand over your heart, let's go home
Everyone noticed, everyone has seen the signs
I've always been known to cross lines
I've always been scared of the sound
Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load
I'm too young to feel this old
Or does nobody know, nobody see
Nobody but me.

I heard the lyrics of Cold Desert were written by Caleb when he was drunk, and took a walk out in the desert. He reflected on past transgressions and relationships...and the Line "Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load" at the time, was how he felt...in an interview he said he knew it was wrong to say that...(the whole band being raised Pentecostal and all) but he truly and honestly felt that way that particular moment in time. Beautiful Song despite its pinch of depression :)
This is amazing. Blows my mind every time I listen to it. It's full of so much pain and it's just.. perfect. My favourite, absolutely brilliant.
i love when it fades out and then comes back in and calebs just going nuts.
YES!!!!
YES!!!!
This is the best track off the new album hands down. Reminds me of the tracks like Trani and Milk and Arizona. They really know how to finish an album. Not really their best album, truly expected more. I wish they would go back to Youth and Young Manhood. So raw and so wild. I guess we have to accept their polished sound, yeah? Just like we have to accept Bloc Party.

good video.... watch it everything after the first verse was improvised
Genuinely poignant and emotionally resonant. For an album that has a kind of "over-commercialized" sound (at least in the context of comparing it with their 3 previous efforts) and a sound obviously created with "arena-rocking" in mind, this track is capable of rising above that and reaches greatness. A great way to close an album.
"Jesus don't love me No one ever carried my load I'm too young to feel this old"
I did these lyrics from ear, they may not be 100% correct - particularly the line--
"special ones walk on without sound"
I'll edit it when I know the proper lyrics.
I love the song. I don't know if anyone else feels like this but to me it seems like a "whiny" song, like, that's the intention, just to whine, and it sounds frickin awesome. That would tie in with OBTN's theory!
I'm taking a guess here...

I think its "special love spoken without sound"
I think its "special love spoken without sound"
Kinda makes sense with the texture of the song - just guessing!

Actually, it is indeed "Special unspoken without sound".

Like much of their lyrics, it comes from their upbringing in a Pentecostal church where special requests for prayer were made, often as "unspoken" when the one making the request didn't want to make the issue public.

I'm pretty sure it's "Hand over your heart let's go home"
Other than that I think it's all right, except I'm not sure what the line "special ones walk on without sound" is either, it sounds different, but I don't know what it is.

Oh, whoops, sorry.
Yay new album! =]
