No One Understands Lyrics
I've always played the fool around here
I'm starting to worry that
I rush through life forgetting to breathe
we all need some time to adapt
No one understands
no one understands what it's like
I had high hopes of silver and gold
I thought this could change for the best
My mom always said I was named for a saint
but i never felt i was blessed
No one understands
no one understands
no one understands what it's like
I got your cure right here
is that what you wanna hear?
I've played the fool too many times
I've been catching up for all my life
and it seems it gets harder to believe
it gets harder but be honest
if the sun dont shine tomorrow,
we'll survive.
i turn this up as loud as it goes and
it aint doin much for the pain
its up to me and the heart on my sleeve
that hasnt quite been the same
no one understands
no one understands
no one understands what it's like
I got your cure right here
is that what you wanna hear?
I've played the fool too many times
I've been catching up for all my life
and it seems it gets harder to believe
it gets harder but be honest
if the sun dont shine tomorrow,
we'll survive.
i'm in a field of land mines and cruise ships to hell
oh, but i dont think about that.
it's so hard to find help these days when everyone's counting on me
but i'm burnt already.
I got your cure right here
is that what you wanna hear?
I've played the fool too many times
I've been catching up for all my life
and it seems it gets harder to believe
it gets harder but be honest
if the sun dont shine tomorrow,
if the sun dont shine tomorrow,
if the sun dont shine tomorrow,
then we'll survive.

The song is amazing. The lyrics are amazing.
I guess what it's trying to say is that, growing up or in life, it always feels like you're alone. People always want someone to give them a miracle cure to get past things; they feel as though the world is closing in on them.
In the chorus, he's saying that, yeah, he's been there. He's "played the fool too many times," he's been this way a lot in the past, he's still trying to make up for the time he's lost dwelling on things that don't really matter, and although it seems like the end of the world, tomorrow always comes and none of it mattered.
In the verse about "high hopes of silver and gold" he's saying that he always wished he's be taken away, like a poor person wishing for wealth, from his problems, that things would change and he'd be rid of all of it, but that doesn't happen--you just realize it's not worth the trouble you put into it.
Finally, in the verse about being "in a field of land mines and cruise ships hell, oh, but i don't think about that" he's really saying, "yeah, i'm still in a bad place right now, but i ignore it, and it helps." Also, the next lines show that people think he's found a secret of life, and count on him for advice, but although he seems better off, he's just as bad off as they are.
It's a great song. Essentially, it's saying "Yeah, life sucks. It always will, so get used to it, ignore it, and try to make the best of it." A truly important lesson.
And the title/lines "No One Understands" seems more like he's taunting the people who think they're unique or the only people suffering. He's going for irony. I love it. Bayside is amazing.
I don't think he's speaking from his perspective when he says "No one understands." I think its about teen angst or just over dramatic people. (Be honest, if the sun doesn't set tomorrow, we'll survive.) And the sarcasm of "I got your cure right here, is that what you want to hear?" really adds to the touch.
I like this song, it's catchy, but its not their best. This album is not their best. That's my opinion though, no hissy fits please!
Almost completely agree.
Almost completely agree.
i just heard this song for the first time, and it srsly took my breath away. i'm so amped for this new album. =)
As one of the biggest Bayside fans of all time, I think this is a perdy damn good song. It makes me all warm and fuzzeh on the inside. They're so cute and awesome and I can't wait for the new album, which I'm most likely going to pre-order cuz that's what good fans do. :D
I like this song because i can relate to it. It's pretty self-explanatory.
it's different from their older stuff, but i know i'll like the new album. already have it pre-ordered! :D
This album is def turning out different than past but thats what happens when bands are together for so long.... they grow up in a way ..... and did you just refer to bayside as "CUTE"??? wow.... hmm....
but this song is amazing the entire album (what i've heard so far) is phenominal
Shudder is the best album I have ever heard.
Amazing.
yeah i agree with frumstick. this album while good doesnt have the same soul and integrity in the songs of their previous album. it is pretty good though and anyone who thinks its the best definitly neeeeds to check out their older stuff.especially their self titled album and the split-ep and walking wounded
