I can't help myself i'm addicted to a life of material
Its some kind of joke, i'm obsessively opposed to the typical
All we care about it, runway models, cadillacs and liquor bottles
Give me something i wanna be, retro glamour, Hollywood yes we live for the
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we wanna live the life of the rich and famous
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we gotta taste for champagne and endless fortune
Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
We live for the Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
Isen't it a shame shame baby
A shame shame
In it for the Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
I can see myself in the movies with my picture in city lights
Photograph my mind and whateve else you'd like to shoot you decide
All we care about is, pornographic girls on film and body plastic
Give me something, I wanna see television and hot blondes in odd positions
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we wanna live the life of the rich and famous
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we gotta taste for champagne and endless fortune
Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
We live for the Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
Isen't it a shame shame baby
A shame shame
In it for the Fame Fame baby
The Fame Fame
Don't ask me how or why
But i'm gonna make it happen this time
My teenage dream tonight
Yeah i'm gonna make it happen this time
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we wanna live the life of the rich and famous
Fame
Doin' it for the
Fame
Cuz we gotta taste for champagne and endless fortune

people are missing the point of this song. she's totally blasting this society's obsession with fame, not praising.
damn right
damn right
Am I the only one who thinks this song is kind of being sarcastic? Like, she's talking tongue-in-cheek, saying that it's ridiculous?
QUOTES FROM GAGA ON WHAT FAME MEANS TO HER: "I think there's different kinds of fame," she says. "I think there's 'fame', which is plastic and you can buy it on the street, and paparazzi and money and being rich, and then there's 'the fame', which is when no one knows who you are but everybody wants to know who you are. That's what this whole record's about, this record beckons for everybody on the planet to stop being either jealous or obsessive about what they don't have and start acting like they do."
And how does one act like you do? "It's carrying yourself down the street like, 'I'm beautiful and dirty rich but I've got no money,'" she says. "Fame is not pretending to be rich, it's carrying yourself in a way that exudes confidence and passion for music or art or fishing or whatever the hell it is that you're passionate about, and projecting yourself in a way that people say, 'Who the fuck is that?' It has nothing to do with money. I can wear a $2 pair of pants and a T-shirt and a pair of sunglasses for two bucks on the street, but I can make it look like I'm Paris Hilton. You gotta have the fame, you gotta exude that thing. You gotta make people care, you gotta know and believe how important you are. You gotta have conviction in your ideas."
So obviousely, this song is about the obsurdity of the value of fame (money, stature, sex, power ... not for what you've done). She's always been famous to herself. It's the way you view yourself, like you're full of money, sex, stature, power... even if you don't have it.
It is so sad how society depends so much on Fame.. Like people would do ANYTHING to become famous because they want to be popular and rich.. that's SAD!!
so not true! she lives for the fame. she, Lady GaGa! it's not a complaining song.

^That s true :(
This song is really catchy though
this song's great. who cares if she's being materialistic? that's not the point. she's said before that the point of the song and album is that anyone can FEEL famous. it's all about how you make yourself feel. amazing song &&& ARTIST.
About her being famous
As much as I find Lady Gaga and her schtick tiresome, this song is quite catchy. Also, very self-explanatory.
yea, she IS being sarcastic
obviously people don'teven understand what gaga's music is about. this song is obviously talking about hollywood's ridiculous obsession with fame and materialism. there is ALWAYS a deeper meaning in every one of gaga's songs. figure it out before posting shit about her. she is the most amazing inspirational woman in the world.
