Molten Light Lyrics

They dumped her body into the molten light
Floated to the surface and it did not ignite
She rose up slowly and walked to the shore
She stood up on the bank and whispered
I’ll find you and I’ll kill you
I’ll find you and I’ll kill you
I’ll find you and I’ll kill you

They ran back into town and hid in the church
They explained their situation and they feared for the worst
The priest told the brothers that she could not be killed
She flew out of the stone cold ground and
She’ll find you and she’ll kill you
She’ll find you and she’ll kill you
She’ll find you and she’ll kill you

Oh oh oh oh...

There was a knock at that door that shook through their hearts
She blew it right open and put it apart
She shot a string of flame from the center of her chest
As she watched their bodies burn she whispered
I found you and I killed you
I found you and I killed you
I found you and I killed you

judging from the video, i get a sense that this song is not autobiographical. i interpret this female figure as symbolizing gaia, the earth goddess. eventually mankind will pay for harming the ecosystem with nature's wrath. interesting how he uses the priest as a sort of oracle or adviser, when it should be a scientist perhaps?

i really like chad vangaalen's songs for the sort of primordial atmosphere they create. this is my favorite song off of soft airplane thus far.

are there any other artists similar in this respect? pink floyd? i haven't listened to much pink floyd.

try listening to Tyler Abrahamson www.myspace.com/tylerjordanabrahamson ;)

peace, Loki

I just see this as weird awesome shit. no meaning is necessary.

well i dont think most ppl think of pink floyd when they hear chad... but you're onto something with that "primordial atmosphere" idea. pink floyd at pompeii paints the band in a pretty primitive light.

and i think he used a priest as an adviser because these brothers are probably religious..maybe they thought that by getting forgiveness her soul or spirit or whatever would be put to rest...but wait she's not really dead, is she? the priest said she cant be killed... does she look like a ghost in the video? I havent seen it yet.

yeah, she basically floats back up, don't know if that necessarily makes her a ghost. i think the priest basically says that they can't kill her ghost.

In my opinion that actions have consequences,... Its also written as the most easy to understand explanation / concept of revenge. And the physical world does not make a difference when you take feelings into account.

I feel like there's some sort of pre-acknowledged story that I'm missing, since no one else has commented that THAT IS THE CREEPIEST MELODY-LYRIC COMBINATION IN ANY CHORUS EVER.

Going off of what I saw it could be about doing something that causes problems you don't have the nerve to face so you run... but no matter how much you try to get away from it without dealing with it, it comes back for you. Another thing is that she got bigger the longer the song got... so it could be about how avoiding the issue could cause it to get worse.

The song is about guilt. Plain and simple. Well at least to me.

In my opinion: They dumped her body into the molten light Floated to the surface and it did not ignite She rose up slowly and walked to the shore

They killed her, but she was unable to pass into the afterlife, so she dragged herself back into the conciousness of reality.

They ran back into town and hid in the church They explained their situation and they feared for the worst The priest told the brothers that she could not be killed She flew out of the stone cold ground and She'll find you and she'll kill you

This may be about how some people live bad lives but claim to be religious to hide it. However when you really look at what this religion says, it condemns the action "You will be killed for it, and that's just how it is"

There was a knock at that door that shook through their hearts She blew it right open and put it apart She shot a string of flame from the center of her chest

The "knock at the door" could be either just in general punishment, or it could mean death. Either way, it's their day of reckoning so to speak. Watching the video you notice that the 'string of flame' is shot from the exact place they pulled out her insides in the beginning of the video.

(this is just my opinion.)
