Don't Talk Down Lyrics

Don't, don't talk down to me
Your head is moving side to side
Our temperatures rise
I hear the Devil outside

You're heading north
Well I'm heading south
Well I hope the words are right when they leave your mouth

Well I'm better off now

Don't, don't talk down to me
Your head is moving side to side
Our temperatures rise
I hear the...

Some things I can't be under
I take one more step
I'm lacing up my gloves

Well I'm better off now

Don't, don't talk down to me
Your head is moving side to side
Our temperatures rise
I hear the Devil outside

Argumentative spite to someone forming a condescending association.
North and south portion of the song could mean this person is being cold and calculating while the singer is headed for sunshine. Something maybe true in the other's formed opinion that the singer firmly ignoress or disagrees with.

What a lovely opening to their new album! Oceans Will Rise seems to find a happy middle-ground between the glitzy art-rock of Logic and the folksy-ness of Without Feathers (which I didn't like as much as their original sound), and I absolutely love it. Ok, I know this site is supposed to be about meanings but I think the meaning in this song is pretty apparent - someone getting upset about being talked down to and having some sort of argument with somebody.

i read the lyrics and thought the song was meant to describe moving on from someone that just made his blood boil. he agrees with them on nothing and everytime they meet he knows a conflict is brewing and he just wants to pummel that person (lacing up my gloves)
