Trojan Horse Lyrics

You used to take your watch off before we made love
You didn't want to share our time with anyone
You used to close your eyes when we kissed goodbye
You didn't want to see me draped in sadness

And now there's nothing here, now there's nothing here at all
In a loft conversion off new north road
And now there's nothing here, now there's nothing here at all
You were here, I was here, there was something real here
I know there was

You know I still adore you
But in a different kind of way
You know I still adore you
But things have gotten vague
Baby I don't ask for much
But things have gotten convenient 2x
You know I still adore you
But things have kinda changed

To think I laughed at you for how you saw the world
For all that empty space inside your heart
I have to cling to things now, the ? cigarettes
Forever trying to find you on the lips of someone else

You know I still adore you
But in a different kind of way
You know I still adore you
But things have gotten vain
Baby I don't ask for much
But things have ?, oh
You know I still adore you
But things have kinda changed

Just take me back
To the start
When our earthquake
It was just cracks
You must ask yourself
Every day

this song is hard to like because it doesn't have a really obvious chorus or hook or anything... but the start of the song is still really strong so i do remember it. the song's just about two people in a relationship, and it's thiiiiiiis close to ending. they don't love each other anymore.

the missing word is chameleon that and zepherus are the best songs on the album by far

Wouldn't you say that the "You know I still adore you But in a different kind of way..." bit is the chorus? I like how Kele sings that bit, and I like the lyrics "And to think I laughed at you for how you saw the world". =]

Yeah, I agree with true.love.way... that is the hook, and the amazing guitar solo is the other hook. So glad these lyrics are up, I had no idea what he said when he went high, but now I know it's " You know I still adore you"

when he goes high, doesn't it remind you of muse? and as everyone else said, obvious meaning.

how can it be a hook though if you can't understand it or sing along?? i mean, after looking them up i can, but i mean, initially, it was a bit of a mystery...

samfancypants, that is rediculous. just because you dont understand a hook doesn't mean it's not there. what happens after you learn what he says? all of a sudden it becomes a chorus? It is definetly the chorus because of how it fits into the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-brisge-chorus structure.

Anyone figure out why this is titled Trojan Horse?

I think it is a general reference to Deception. Perhaps also an innuendo about Sex(!)

The line after "In a loft conversion" is "off New North Road". Kele went to school right near me (where my Mum now works) and that road is also in our area.

I agree with darkfrankhs' sentiments. (Perhaps not with the suggestion that the title is a reference to a sexual innuendo, but definitely in the sense that the title refers to deception). In my opinion, this song reflects on a moment of sudden clarity experienced by the central character, upon realising that the 'love' he felt was merely infatuation, that he had mistaken for love.

'You know I still adore you But things have kinda changed'

I think a common experience for people as they grow up and have romantic relationships is the realisation that the way they feel for their partner may have changed, and in certain cases the person they are with may also have changed.

'You used to take your watch off before we made love You didn't want to share our time with anyone'

Again this is only my opinion, but it appears this song focuses also on the way people fall in love with the preconception they have of another person, more then the actually person themselves and enevitably when their partner doesn't match up, the person is left with a feeling of betrayal and disappointment.

If I had to suggest a possible reason for the title 'Trojan Horse', I'd imagine its reflects on the way in which people feel like they've been deceived or tricked by their partner when they realise that the person they once fell in love with has changed or when they fail to compare to the preconception the person already held about them?
