A red priest broke into our classroom
Caught us children by attention
Listen closely to the words I speak
Lord knows if I'll ever, ever again be

Spoke such words never spoken before
On the way he declared the world
Miracles like you've never seen
From a man who was raised up in the sea

A man is coming in thirteen were
To charm the daughters and the sons
Scared for our lives I turn to your hand
Hold this time while we run if we still can

[Chorus]
What disasters may come
Whatever it may be
At the end of the age
It will land you and me
Tragedy may bring
Whatever may fall
At the end of the world
You'll still be loved

Before the red priest took his last breath
He told me child now don't forget
The sun will turn dark very soon
The days are numbered when there's blood on the moon

The earth will shake and the sky will fall
The ice will open up frozen ground
Don't take the son but you'll be killed
By the man from seven years

A man is coming in thirteen were
To charm the daughters and the sons
Scared for our lives I turn to your hand
Hold this time while we run if we still can

[Chorus]

Looked up into the eastern sky
When you hear the voice, say your last goodbyes
Look back to the eastern skies
When the ghost take hold of the men who died

Looked up into the eastern sky
When your fathers weep and your mothers cry
Looked up into the eastern sky

[Chorus]

Looked up into the eastern sky
When you hear the voice, say your last goodbyes
Look back to the eastern skies
When the ghost take hold of the men who died

Looked up into the eastern sky
When your fathers weep and your mothers cry
Looked up into the eastern sky

Look children to the eastern sky

great job bustinloose and others...great stuff. good catch on the reference thing. especially loved ethans comment about the red hair, very nice man. and 3ncryption, i am not sure what you say is correct. i know you were just taking a stab but something tells me that the band is not really involved in fighting against "A Comparison of Global Climate Policy Architectures" though i could be wrong.

as for muffinman, you are totally wrong dude. maybe you dont' know anything about Biblical hermeneutics but there are such things as double-fulfillments in Scripture. Good Hebrew writers used it all the time. stuff like type/antitype and dual-application, any of this ringing a bell in ya head? it's like in mark 13 where Jesus is telling His disciples about the end of the world. obviously i agree with you that i believe He is talking about the destruction of Jerusalem by Antiochus Epiphanes and so on. but i ALSO believe He is talking about the end of this earth. when He talks about the heavenly bodies falling from the sky in v. 24-25 i don't think that happened in AD 70. all that is a quote from Isaiah which makes everything even cooler. Jesus using the prophecy of a prophet of the OT in His own double-fulfillment prophecy for the end times. what great stuff.

i agree with others that anberlin should not have tried to replicate what they had going with *fin. that was just too good to top. but i did like this song.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
