Idea for a Story Lyrics

Lucean,
Im so tired of flesh and blood
My lord has grown so vile
Shamefullness descends upon the shoulders
Kicking the corpse untill the fun wares off

Bleeding septums and S41
Talking needs to the sun comes up
Rich boys they just need a hand or hand down
From papa

Wouldnt it be too divine
With a start, middle and an end
Wouldnt it be too divine
If we could see a way out

Wouldnt it be too divine
With a start, middle and an end
Wouldnt it be too divine
If we could see a way out

Theres a blizzard in the after hours bars
Raining my way down the strand
Who are these fags in the red bow ties
ruining it for the rest of us

Self content for the young, the younger beset
that hirstoy will always eat itself
Rich boys they just need a hand
or a good old fashioned war

Wouldnt it be too divine
With a start, middle and an end
Wouldnt it be too divine
If we could see a way out

Wouldnt it be too divine
With a start, middle and an end
Wouldnt it be too divine
If we could see a way out

Okay, so in light of Kele's recent, "hey guys, I'm officially gay" announcement, I'm going to say this is definitely about AIDS. I'm projecting that the fags in the red bow ties line is either about the frustration kele feels with mainstream gay culture, either a) in the way that they wear the AIDS ribbon almost as a meaningless fashion statement or b) that when people see a guy who is really stereotypically gay it ruins it for the non-stereotypical gays because it reinforces people's prejudice.

Then the chorus: Wouldnt it be too divine With a start, middle and an end Wouldnt it be too divine If we could see a way out

is just about how there is no cure for the disease, no way out.

Talons also sounds like it's about AIDS.

Nicely put. I identify with that completely.

Where the question mark is should be the word septums

I probably should have read the rest lyrics before I posted, because I've a couple more corrections.

Lucean is spelled Lucian, after the Greek writer and rhetorian. S41 should probably be SW1(a london postal code), though this is debatable because S41 is an experimental HIV medication. I'm not sure, but I think the line should be "Rich Boys they just need a hand or a hand-out" because it makes more sense with the "from Papa" bit Beset as in "The young beset that history will only eat itself") should be have said *Typo on history

Anyway, sorry to be so nit picky. Great Song. Bloc Party forever!

A song about HIV/AIDS, perhaps? Makes sense with the S41 line and the "all these f**s ruining it for the rest of us" one. Otherwise, I have no idea what this is about. Very interesting song though. Love the accordion!

i think i agree with you hermano and the red bow ties possibly the AIDS ribbon?

Red bow ties probably means the HIV ribbons yeah. Not sure what he means ruining for the rest of us though. From a brief view seems quite a conflicted song.

Also, Kele went to Kings College London which is on the strand. His picture is on the KCL Strand building at the moment. Also the KCL health and GUM clinic is just off the strand - adding to the evidence of the song being about sexuality/sexual health
