Punx Win Lyrics

roll into town,
and its not long
before i start to dig
for all the bones,
and buried stories
'neath the golden streets.
'cause i can never shake
the feeling that they're trying
to pull one over on you and me.

creep into town,
and its not long
before i start to roam.
seek out the patches on the punx,
maybe a band i know.
i bet you in five minutes time,
we find that we know all the same
people, places, and roads.
and its not long before i start to feel,
that somehow i can never leave home.

cross this county
its not long,
before i start to feel
like dinner time's become a crime
to spin the thorns and wheels.
it makes me wonder why we rebels
make a holiday of every single meal.
and when we find amazing places,
cheap burritos, magic spices,
its like hey, wish you were here.

poison river,
got a paddle,
and ill never ,
leave without ya.
leave without ya.

so, i collect these crumpled,
beer-stained flyers,
seven-inches, photographs,
all your old letters that remind me
to look down and back.
its then i realize our romance
has its roots in one sub-humans patch.

so when I'm feeling like its time for bed,
the game is done,
its all been raided, jailed,
and busted, and the weasels won,
i find a batch of kids thinking things,
i never thought when i was young.
this songs a weapon,
defense against the dying years
that anytime you feel,
every story's been spun.

poison river,
got a paddle,
and ill never,
leave without ya.

poison river,
got a paddle,
and ill never,
leave without ya.
leave without ya.

oh ill never ,
leave without ya.
la da da daa.
la da da daa.

poison river,
got a paddle,
and ill never,
leave without ya.

i hate the title so much because it mask a better message than the title conveys. its not really about punks or anything. to me its about how we have become ashamed of all forms of adventure and excitment. we would rather sit on our golden streets than paddle posion river

I love this song so much. The title is somewhat ironic, but basically it's true, true if you accept the message the song conveys. And that message is one of optimism and solidarity. Spelled like that it's just one of those pompous statements that "big" punk bands make, it's something you'd dismiss at first glance. But, actually, the punks do win. Because as long as we stand by each other and help each other out, we'll beat them. I think that's what the chorus is about: poison river, got a paddle, and ill never , leave without ya.

Everything sucks, but I won't leave you behind. And whenever you think that the game is done and that they've won, new hope arises. There is someone to pull you out of the mud. And that's what punk is about. It's about politics, and about music, sure, but it's also about community and support, it's about when you're felling down and you're broke and everything looks black and then you feel that spark again. It's about knowing that your friends will help you through it. It's about knowing that there's a community behind you. It's about knowing that, wherever you go, there will be a community to help you. That there'll be a family. And it's also about love. That lyric that says: its then i realize our romance has its roots in one sub-humans patch. It says more about punk love than anything else I've ever heard or read, because it's true. It's those little things that bring us together, that make it possible to build lasting relationships, be it friendship or romance. And it's that that they'll never take from us. Our ability to band together and support each other. And in that sense, truly, the punx do win.

I think that it is Punx win because no matter where you go in the country you "can never leave home" because all you need to do is "seek out the patches on the punx" and find a band you know and you'll have friends.
