Waiting for the Silence Lyrics
Opinions can be fatal
If you’re not careful
They can lead you on the right track
Or stab you in the back
You say I should have know better
That I should just agree
But honey hearts don’t come with guarantees
I hate to break it too you but I’m obviously
Not who you want me to be
And it’s a cowardly act now
I Didn’t mean to react now
Your mind is under attack
And you’re asking yourself why
I cant live without the attention
I’ve feel lost got no direction
I’m waiting for the silence to end now
Waiting for the smoke the clear
Waiting for someone to surrender
Don’t you remember how it was last year
When all of the boys were making their noise
And the girls are trying hard to pretend
We had it all back then
Now were waiting for the silence to end
Secrets can be hurtful
And the truth can sometimes kill it seems
Be careful what you wish for
Because over here the grass don’t look too green
And it’s a cowardly act now
I Didn’t mean to react now
Your mind is under attack
And you’re asking yourself why
I cant live without the attention
I’ve feel lost got no direction
I’m waiting for the silence to end now
Waiting for the smoke the clear
Waiting for someone to surrender
Don’t you remember how it was last year
When all of the boys were making their noise
And the girls are trying hard to pretend
We had it all back then
Now were waiting for the silence to end
Is there any point of shifting the blame
Is there any point of chasing a runaway train
I cant live without the attention
I’ve feel lost got no direction
I’m waiting for the silence to end now
Waiting for the smoke the clear
Waiting for someone to surrender
Don’t you remember how it was last year
When all of the boys were making their noise
And the girls are trying hard to pretend
We had it all back then
Now were waiting for the silence to end
Waiting for the silence to end...

I'm listening to the album and it just keeps on getting better and better. When you think the song can't top the last, it does. It's amazing. I am a HUGE fan of TLE's older stuff, but this is just top notch.
yeah, this new stuff raises the bar on a lyrical scale, at least. :)
It strikes me as how Chris felt after he broke up with Scotty and Andy.
"Opinions can be fatal If you're not careful They can lead you on the right track Or stab you in the back"
What other people thought about Chris and what Chris thought about his own opinions of leaving and being with the band, as well as not doing anything else but having a single-minded look on it all.
"You say I should have known better That I should just agree But honey hearts don't come with guarantees I hate to break it too you but I'm obviously Not who you want me to be"
Pressures of staying and blame.
"And it's a cowardly act now I Didn't mean to react now Your mind is under attack And you're asking yourself why?"
He knows it's bad leaving right at that point. Chris has said that right in the middle of a concert in Qld that he thought to himself "I don't want to be here". And, so those lyrics are saying just that basically, he reacted at a bad time, right when they were playing, but that happens when your going through stuff. And Chris didn't know why it was happening, and neither did Scott or Andy.
"I cant live without the attention I've feel lost got no direction"
Very powerful lyrics - Chris was hiding away from it all, and felt a lack of attention from fans, and he realised he didn't like that. And, that he had no direction because he didn't know what to do with himself or how to be happy with what he was doing.
"I'm waiting for the silence to end now Waiting for the smoke to clear Waiting for someone to surrender"
Silence = lack of music. He had MASSIVE writers block during that period so his head felt 'smokey'. - Metaphorically. He was waiting for a lyric, a riff anything to enter his mind.
"Don't you remember how it was last year When all of the boys were making their noise And the girls are trying hard to pretend We had it all back then Now were waiting for the silence to end"
Looking back at how good it was all before that. The fans - males singing along; getting rowdy, females trying to join in. Looking back at how they had everything they wanted, then suddenly they struck this massive block in the road. Nowhere to go. Waiting for Chris to strike gold and feel happy and fulfilled with his work again.
"Secrets can be hurtful And the truth can sometimes kill it seems"
The band tried hard to keep their 'break up' a secret, this was hard for them obviously, and fans began to feel upset and deserted as rumours came out which resembled the truth.
"Be careful what you wish for Because over here the grass don't look too green"
Basically, what it says. Chris probably wished for a stretch of calm, a break from work, and once he was there he realised it wasn't great, he couldn't live without it and he didn't like it.
"Is there any point of shifting the blame"
Wondering if it's worth putting the blame on others and lifting his load (possibly other people to do with the band). [The blame could include saying that they never gave him a break, etc.] But Chris is obviously VERY LOYAL!
"Is there any point of chasing a runaway train"
Wondering if there was any point in escaping from it all, running away from the troubles and everything that came with leaving (see above).
"When all of the boys were making their noise "And the girls are trying hard to pretend"
Could also be describing the band and family. Boys - Chris, Scotty, Andy. Girls - their wives/girlfriends.

This would have to be the best song on the White Noise album. i love the classical music interval, and when it's played behind the chorus (:
