Q&A
Unhappy Lyrics
She takes her clothes off and she says
Is it alright if I stay the night?
I don't remember what I said
Is it alright?
Well, she's gone when I awake
Left a letter
Saying everything was a mistake
And I'm alone, but it's alright
'Cause I understand
I could tell everything's not fine
It's never alright to push away
I'm not as blind as you may think
And I'm tired of all that is
And I know that this time
It's not all in my head
CHORUS
You look a little unhappy about the way the world is turning
Is there anything I could do to take your mind off
Your troubled hearted kind
And she said maybe, just maybe
You won't end up like him
It's just another day, it's cold
And I'm losin' myself inside
The colors on the wall are all fading
And all that's left is a hope for another day
That's not cold again
Again, and it's a shame
And I know that this time
It's not all in my head
CHORUS
She takes her clothes off and she says
Is it alright if I stay the night?
I don't remember what I said
Is it alright?
She takes her clothes off and she says
Is it alright if I stay the night?
I don't remember what I said

CHORUS (x2)
Is it alright if I stay the night?
I don't remember what I said
Is it alright?

Possibly about a friend going through a breakup, going to him for help, even though she's not quite sure what she wants.
She takes her clothes off and she says "Is it alright if I stay the night?"Beautiful.
The girl is having bad times, probably a boyfriend. So she goes to this guys house for help, and he lets her. Something happens and he wonders if it's alright that he's doing this even with her ex. Which is why she said everything was a mistake. But he kinda saw that coming, apparently. But he figures they can't last. And she said maybe, just maybe you won't end up like him. ^ Maybe these two can work out, happily. Unlike her and the other guy (hence: unhappy)
she goes to him for help but then realizes she shouldn't have. she probably thinks she shouldn't have because of a different guy. and he wants to help. and she wants him to help but she seems a little unsure. i don't know about this part though: "Must have been around midnight, There's a ghost at the door She said please go slowly, cause we've all been here before"
on that part i think hes saying thats she comes back and she saying maybe it wasnt a mistake but she just neded to sort out her life first

I think that the girl is being abused in some way by her current boyfriend, and turns to this guy for comfort, but keeps going back to the other guy because its what she knows, and she thinks the singer is going to end up just like him anyway. But the singer actually cares for her, but instead of explaining himself, he always just gets mesmorized by her (like when she takes her clothes off).
"Must have been around midnight, There's a ghost at the door She said please go slowly, cause we've all been here before"
I think that the "ghost" is who the girl fears to be the mean exboyfriend outside the home of the singer. She, as a result, is scared and wants to stay over night.
Actually, the line about the ghost at the door is misquoted from another song ("Still" - Thriving Ivory) and does not belong to the song at all.

I think the girl came to that guy with some heartbreak problems and stayed for the night, but in the morning realized it was a mistake and left before he awoke, so she is a "ghost" to him now. Some time passes and the guy fights with his thoughts and feelings about what happened. The chorus is I think what he said to her when she came. He realizes that she could be just using him to feel better, and he could be just taking advantage of her state. He wonders it it's ok if they both realize this, or if there was something more to that. He is unhappy about this situation, as it's not the perfect way to start something. Later on the girl comes back and says that maybe after all the two of them can work (she had the same thoughts), but asks him to go slow, and maybe, just maybe he wont turn out like her ex.

Actually, paradox137, it's in both songs. In "Still" it's "Must've been around midnight. clothes on the floor. She said please go slowly, 'cause we've all been here before." If you'd take 5 seconds to listen to the songs... (;

I take this song a little bit different I think that the girl and the singer had been together before and then she went with another guy who ended up hurting her either physically or emotionally. Then after she realizes her mistake she returns to the first guy (the singer) but they are both reluctant at first because of there past. This explains the line "Must have been around midnight, There's a ghost at the door She said please go slowly, cause we've all been here before" I think the "ghost" is there past together and she wants to go slowly because they have done this before and it hasn't worked.

i think that the song is about a girl who is searching for something different in love yet she keeps coming back to this guy. probably because he is the only one who is always there. she asks him if she can stay while she's taking her clothes off so she knows that the answer is going to be yes, so that means she's been there before. and he is questioning is it alright and yet he doesnt stop her. maybe because deep down he's hoping it'll be different that time. but yet he wakes up alone again. She leaves him a note saying it was a mistake and again he's left alone to dwell on her indeciciveness. He knows she's not okay but still he wants her there. She thinks he doesnt see thru her facade but in reality he sees more than she does. So he tries to help her by asking if there is anything he can do to help heal her heart and she says maybe you wont end up like him. "him" could be an ex or anyone who has hurt her. its probably a reference to her past relationships in general. all failures. She wants him to fix her and yet she pushes him away at every turn. And all the running from him and the pushing away hurts him and yet he cant let go of the hope that she's gonna come back and stay one day. The "ghost" at the door reference is a reference to him not believing she's actually there. She comes in and he knows that she has come to do the same thing as before only this time it might actually be different
i think this song is about a girl who has (or had) a boyfriend who died. which is why she goes to the narrator, and why she regrets it in the morning, because she feels like shes betrayed her boyfriend. The narrator tries to help her move on, and she tells him she hopes he won't go away, like her other boyfriend (maybe, just maybe, you won't end up like him). the 'ghost at the door' is a double meaning, for the girl and the dead boyfriend.
