International Lyrics

The youth and the Imperialist Tribune was also addressed by a young girl
From Nicaragua whose hands had been cut off at the wrists by the former
Somoza guards.
Veronika Mercoff, of the German Federal Republic, had this to say:

Aber ich habe eine Ausbildung gemacht
Ak Industrie Kaufmann und... ??

I'm a shop assistant at the... ??
And I must say I'm a shop assistant by profession,
But it is difficult for.... ??

Now and then a little thing gets by.
Now and then we'll cry.

"Also, ich habe eine Ausbildung gemacht als Industriekaufmann und wurde nach der Ausbildung nicht übernommen, habe also eine abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung. Und so wie mir geht..."

International came out at a time when Communist Eastern European radio stations, mainly Radio Moscow, would find news, or possibly fake news, that discredited Western values and showed that Democracy was worse than Communism, in particular, tolerant of fascism. This example of Veronika Merkoff, shows that a West German girl, apparently personally "guarded" by Somoza "guards", was horribly mutilated by police or military in a pro-Western state.

My Interpretation

@vulcanbiscuit I mean, isn't it true to a sense because alot of South American dictatorships were brutal?

Regardless of whether communism is worse than democracy, those things still happened and alot of those dictatorships were horrible places.

It's someone talking about receiving industrial-vocational training.

I don't think Veronika Merkoff was the victims name, I think she was probably a conference attendee which had been interviewed about the conference and this speech in particular, but...
