And it feels like this is the last chance I have to say
Every word that I've been fighting
Well, I have finally decided to hold my head up with pride
And accept the way life takes you through these changes
Cause when you reach the stars you've made it

It's just there's something that I've been dying to let you know
And now that you're gone I'm holding on and I just can't let go

I get a little down on myself
But when you came around my world felt new
I opened up my eyes to the light
And I saw deep inside of a love that was true

And if I ever let you go I'm hoping that some time will show
That you're the one, you're the one for me

And it feels like this is the perfect time
For me to say that deep down inside I'm hurting
But at least I know you're worth it

And if I hold myself with pride and accept the pain
Then life will take me through these changes
Cause I have so much left to see

It's just there's something that I've been dying to let you know
Cause now that you're gone I'm holding on and I just can't let go

I get a little down on myself
But when you came around my world felt new
I opened up my eyes to the light
And I saw deep inside of a love that was true

And if I ever let you go I'm hoping that some time will show
That you're the one, you're the one for me

So let's go back down to the bank of that river where
We can dive right in and forget
About the worries from the world outside
Cause you know my world, my worlds not over
Because I have an angel on my shoulder

And I'll be coming home and when I feel those butterflies
I'll see that I need to find a better way
Just to believe you're gone
So long, some day I'll find the strength to move on

I get a little down on myself
But when you came around my world felt new
I opened up my eyes to the light
And I saw deep inside of a love that was true

And if I ever let you go I'm hoping that some time will show
Cause you're the one, you're the one for me

I agree with xalixo. It's "my whole world felt new"

As for the meaning, I have two theories.

1.) He's taking a good look at where he's at and realizing he's still holding onto a past relationship (ie: dana). He reflects on the relationship in an optimistic way, though, and he knows he'll never forget how she made him feel. This song is him admitting that though he misses her and the relationship was perfect, he has to move on. This is basically him getting closure on that part of his life and using that experience as something to grow from.

2.) This could be about a completely new relationship. He's found a new girl that has finally filled the hole that's brought him down in the past. He's accepting the fact that life goes on, and he's excited that this new love is making his world colorful again.

Either way I think this song can be summed up in a phrase: when one door closes, another opens. It's a song about closure and new beginnings.

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
