Neopolitan Dreams Lyrics

You go on I'll be okay
I can dream the rest away
It's just a little touch of fate
It'll be okay
It sure takes its precious time
But it's got right and so have I

I turn my head up to the sky
I focus one thought at a time
I do not let the little thieves
Under my tightly buttoned sleeves
You couldn't be a longer time
I feel like I am walking blind
I have no arrival time

There are no legible signs
There are no legible signs

I like the way that you talk
I like the way that you walk
It's hard to recreate
Such an individual gait
You wait your turn in the queue
You say your sorries and thank you's
I don't think you're ever
A hundred percent in the room

You're not in the room
You're not in the room

Deepest of the dark nights
Here lies the highest of highs
Neapolitan dreams, stretching out to the sea
You wait your turn in the queue
You say your sorries and thank you's
I don't think you're ever
A hundred percent in the room
You're not in the room
You're not in the room

this is what Lisa said about the song on her website:

"I guess it stems from a parting of two people, obviously me and someone else," says Lisa of the song. "That's where the spirit of the song came from, but then it moves into a place of like, not having such a clear idea of where you're headed. But then when the refrain comes in, the 'ba-da ba-das', it's like saying 'there's so much going on, but hey, fuck it, we're just gonna have fun'."

This is a great song. But I think it's really sad. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in now but the verses are real deep. I can feel the sadness in her voice when she's talking about the person she's parting ways with not being "in the room". And the ba-da bit sounds like she's trying to be positive and say fuck it, it's fine but underneath it's like she's lost a part of herself.

that's exactly how I feel about this song too.

Are you sure it's not "undo my tightly buttoned sleeves"? It sounds like it could be that.

And gate should be spelled gait.

@chocodash , i think it's under my tightly button sleeves...extended metaphor for what the thieves (aka thoughts) are going.

It's definitely "under" not "undo". I agree with you with "gait"

I love the zylophone in the background.

So beautiful! It reminds of when I first heard it; watching the moon whilst driving through town. Which was also really pretty. Every time I hear it, I just can't help feeling happy. It makes me feel innocent and and like life's a big adventure. (I do think the 'ba-da' bit sounds a bit 'never mind'-ish too). The video's really sweet too. I can never quite make out what's going on in the polaroid, though. Apart from a man.

My Opinion

I'm pretty sure it's the man she's parting ways with walking away.

I believe the lyric is "I have no arrival time."

what I thought too

I think this song is about her having to say goodbye to someone yet she doesn't really want to have to say goodbye to that person. I think she wants to keep hoping that it's fate, and eventually they will find each other again, but she feels like it will take so long for them and she just wants them here and now but he isn't really there for her in the relationship so it's ending but she still thinks he is the one for her.
