damnit anna don't look at me that way
you know very well what you did that day
yes you know very well
you say you got a soul to sell
but if you wanna meet the devil
you gotta go to hell

damnit anna can't you look me in the eyes
you better pay attention when i'm giving you advice
'cause you'll pay out then know
that nothing comes for free
you already paid the price of losing me

well i am big and flesh
i dread the words you read
a book without a cover
so don't judge me 'till its over

damnit anna don't you give me away
i'm sleeping in the shadows and i'm here to stay
they say if you love something
you better give it away
but i've seen the same things happen
in a canned rage

damnit anna (damnit anna)
damnit anna (damnit anna)
damnit anna (damnit anna)
damnit anna

although i couldnt find the correct lyrics for this song (even when i checked on their website) i think i still got the jist of it. i think the song is about a guy and a girl (although its sorta unclear if they are in a relationship or not) and the guy is trying to be patient with this girl and it seems she has made her fair share of mistakes but this guy is still staying by her side even though it is hard for him. it would seem that this guy is frustrated with her but in a cute kind of "i still love you anyway" (did i just answer my own question here? maybe they are in a relationship). any other ideas? its a cute song though , and this band seems pretty solid. they've sort of got a vampire weekend/the kooks sound. good job guys.

i think he's frustrated that someone he loves/d is dealing with an eating disorder and would rather be with the illness than with him.

first of all, think it's bled instead of dread.

second, this song seems to be about a guy who loves anna, and she's an idiot, and she keeps making mistakes, so she's lost him at least once before, and he doesn't want to lose her again, but it seems to be going in that direction.

or at least that's what i say about it. cause my name is anna, and i screw up pretty bad.

Here is what I think some of the lyrics are just based on listening and piecing together:

NOT 'cause you'll pay out then know that nothing comes for free INSTEAD 'cause you'll pay out the nose, 'cause nothing comes for free

NOT well i am big and flesh, i dread the words you read INSTEAD well I am ink and flesh, I bled the words you read

NOT ive seen the same thing happen in a canned rage.

INSTEAD... I have no idea. I just don't think it's canned rage. Sounds more like Candace rage or canvas rage or something.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
