The Lucas Roadshow Lyrics
How dare you
Call out that
I am innocent
When my crime
Is living a lie
Rape and murder
Are just fantasies
To the abstract mind
Of the lonesome viscera
Coiled in dejection
And ready to strike
Below the belt
Blood of illusion
Let in the name
Of exploitation
A cut made
By holding
The knife at
The wrong end
A shadow of
Lazy declaration
Of consolation
Deserves the fruits
Of its labor
Shock and awe
Open your eyes
A rush of triumph
A breaking of waves
And on this day
All shall drown in lies
Sodden eye
Informant tear
Terse word
Rekindled flame
Flashing steel
Splashing red
The story
Cannot change
Open my eyes
I cannot be
This martyr
Please god
Open my eyes
I cannot be
This monster
Call out that
I am innocent
When my crime
Is living a lie
Are just fantasies
To the abstract mind
Of the lonesome viscera
Coiled in dejection
And ready to strike
Below the belt
Let in the name
Of exploitation
A cut made
By holding
The knife at
The wrong end
Lazy declaration
Of consolation
Deserves the fruits
Of its labor
Open your eyes
A rush of triumph
A breaking of waves
And on this day
All shall drown in lies
Informant tear
Terse word
Rekindled flame
Flashing steel
Splashing red
The story
Cannot change
I cannot be
This martyr
Please god
Open my eyes
I cannot be
This monster

I wrote this song after I watched a documentary on Henry Lee Lucas. The reasoning behind his desire to admit to literally hundreds of unsolved murders around the country for ambiguous reasons simply fascinated me.
I feel as if this song is the internal conflict of someone who is willingly living a lie for a semblance of comfort.
