Honey Won't You Let Me In Lyrics
Now the snow will fall and the lover's call
Will be drenched out by the shatterin' of verse
As the season shifts lonely minds will drift
On the ocean in a build above its lore
As I knock your door from inside once more
How I wish a soothin' breeze would let me in
Shake my tambourine at your glowing dreams
So honey won't you let me in, oh
As we cease to know where our feet will go
We won't see the ribbons tied up in the vines
Branches will untie every mumblin' lie
Every frayed word in your lullaby is heard
Oh when I catch the force of our first divorce
How I wish the turning sunset could record
Blow my engine steam at your glowin' dreams
So honey won't you let me in, oh
Now the dust will rise, dress the open skies
Just a gallery of words we've used too much
It's a feather's weight but what if it's too late
To be building up our muscles in this drag
Put me on the mornin' ship and I will take the trip
To return with all the treasures of the past
It will always seem like a glowin' dream
So honey won't you let me in
I said honey won't you let me in, oh
Will be drenched out by the shatterin' of verse
As the season shifts lonely minds will drift
On the ocean in a build above its lore
As I knock your door from inside once more
How I wish a soothin' breeze would let me in
Shake my tambourine at your glowing dreams
So honey won't you let me in, oh
We won't see the ribbons tied up in the vines
Branches will untie every mumblin' lie
Every frayed word in your lullaby is heard
Oh when I catch the force of our first divorce
How I wish the turning sunset could record

This is what I think he sings:

-'verse', not 'birds' -possibly 'build-up of its roar', but not sure -definitely 'frayed', not 'frailed' -maybe 'fores', not 'force' -might be 'divorce', but I don't hear 'first' at all -definitely not 'distract', maybe 'drag' or 'track' -definitely 'the past', not 'our past'

Artists change their lyrics all the time when performing live. This is purely about what he says on the recording.

a few changes i'd suggest:
shattering of 'birds' (not verse) as the 'seasons shift' (not seasoned shifts) wish a 'sudden' breeze (not soothin') dress the 'open' skies (not olden) it's a feather's weight (not __ __)
as far as the other blanks go, sounds like 'fores' of our 'fistivores' (fores of our fist-eaters? don't ask me). the last one sounds like muscles in this 'raft'.
great song on a greater album by an even greater artist!
Mattson's lyrics are driven by feeling, pure chaotic emotion, its oxymoronic that these lines formed out of chaos actually do make sense then, also it his highly interpretive based on the listener's own experience (Which is a good thing!)
Winter has come and it sets the narrator adrift: Now the snow will fall and the lover's call will be drenched out by the shattering of birds: (Wintertime is break up time, and love finding time)
Something interesting is going on in this piece as well, the narrator is trying to let himself into his lover's heart, but he's already inside it, 'As I knock your door from inside once more' which leads me to believe, he doesn't want to be let into her, but out, back into the world she occupies but that she has exiled him from with her love.
WHERE IS ALL THE LOVE?! sigh. such a sweet dylan feel! really incredible song, love it to death.
oh beautiful. oh beautiful.
It's "drenched out by the CHATTERING of BIRDS"
It makes sense, as the lover's call is being overshadowed by the other birds around.
I look at the first verse about the winter coming as their relationship is dying, how it happened is
unknown, but his calls to her are being drowned out by the other "birds" which I look at as other
suitors, or perhaps a desire to be be left alone.
Just to throw in my two cents:
I'm pretty sure it's fists' divorce. As in they are no longer holding hands.
Give us a few more years and we'll have all the lyrics down :)
