Back Together Again Lyrics
He's back together again
Yeah everyone is glad that he's together again
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
He's back together again
You know he's still got the moves
You know the grooves still there
Just like the old days old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, Listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again
singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
Gives you something to believe in
Remember '65?
Well the kids are all grown up
But their records are still alive
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
He's back riding high
The charts are full of love, he's on ev'rybody's dial
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing
Listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again
Singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
That's you something to believe in
The old songs never end
Oh just listen to him sing
Back together again, back together again
Singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
And that's you something to believe in
Yeah everyone is glad that he's together again
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
He's back together again
You know the grooves still there
Just like the old days old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, Listen to him sing
singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
Gives you something to believe in
Well the kids are all grown up
But their records are still alive
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing, he could sing
He's back riding high
The charts are full of love, he's on ev'rybody's dial
Just like the old days, old days, old days
Yeah he could sing, he could sing
Listen to him sing
Singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again
The old songs never end
That's you something to believe in
The old songs never end
Oh just listen to him sing
Singing the same old story
Back together again, back together again

I think it's about Elvis
who is this about? I heard years ago that it was about someone who re-entered the spotlight after some time away. DOes anyone know? Rich
it can't be about Elvis- look at the lyric-- Remember '65? Well the kids are all grown up But their records are still alive-- so it was at least 1965 and they say THEIR RECORDS ARE STILL ALIVE.
I've been looking for the answer to this for years!
I'm fairly certain I've figured it out. I believe it's about Brian Wilson getting involved with the Beach Boys again. This was in '76, when this song was released. As far as the reference to '65, that could simply refer to when the Beach Boys were going strong with songs such as "Caifornia Girls". So...I could be wrong but that's my best guess.
Actually remember reading an interview with H&O back in the day about this song. The song is about artists making a comeback and actually used Neil Sedaka as an example. Why I remember this????
I remember Casey Kasem remarking that the song was inspired by (among others) the professional reunion of Sonny and Cher.
I saw an interview somewhere, in which John Oates said it he read an article about Frankie Valli, that he had gotten himself "back together again" after a period of struggle.
