Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I don't know what it's like to land and
Not race to your door
I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I'm not sure that I really ever could
Hold on to your hotel key
And your bedroom neighborhood
And be sleepwalking in Hollywood
I'm going to steer clear
Or burn up in your atmosphere
I'm going to steer clear
'Cause I'd die if I saw you
I'd die if I didn't see you there
So I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I don't think I'm going to go to L.A. Anymore
I'd get lost on the boulevard at night
Without your voice to tell me
"I love you, take a right"
The ten and the two is the loneliest sight, oh yeah
Oh oh ooh
I'm going to steer clear
Or burn up in your atmosphere
I'm going to steer clear
'Cause I'd die if I saw you
I'd die if I didn't see you
I'm going to steer clear, oh yeah
Or burn up in your atmosphere
I'm going to steer clear
'Cause I'd die if I saw you
I'd die if I didn't see you there
See you there
I think I'm going to stay, going to stay in the gray
Think I'm going to stay
And all the street lights say "Never mind, never mind"
And the canyon lines say "Never mind"
The sunset says "We see this all the time"
Never mind
Never you mind
Wherever I go
Whatever I do
I wonder where I am in my relationship to you
Wherever you go
Wherever you are
I watch your life play out in pictures from afar
Wherever I go
Whatever I do, oh
I wonder where I am in my relationship to you
Wherever you go
Wherever you are
I watch that pretty life play out in pictures from afar
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
"Get lost on the boulevard at night Without your voice to tell me I love you, take a right The 10 and the 2 is the lonely sight"
When he was in LA with his girl she would give him directions because he didn't know the streets. "I love you, take a right" He goes on to say "10 and 2 are the loneliest sight." What he means here is that his hand are at 10 and 2 o'clock on the steering wheel. This is sad because he would usually be using one hand to steer and be holding hands with his girl.
Amazing skills by Mr. Mayer. Amazing music and words.
i definitely agree with you. i also think though, that when he says "the 10 and the 2 are the loneliest sight" its also like his hands are clenched on the steering wheel out of the frustration of the situation he's dealing with.
Actually ... time to head on over to mapquest ... HWY 10 and HWY 2 are the two highways that you need to get on to go to Hollywood Blvd, although your interpretation is convenient it doesn't really follow. "Taking a right" (his words) would only be the 2 o'clock direction on the steering wheel, not the 10, and even then you turn the steering wheel a lot further than 2 o'clock than to turn right. Nice idea though ... I'm always fascinated by how deep insights people can get from lyrics that the originator never anticipated.
Oops ... I now see what you mean by the 10 and 2 ... where you put your hands. Incidentally, people in LA (all my relatives live there) refer to HWY 10 and HWY 2 as "the 10" and "the 2", but whenever referring to hand placement it's always followed with the word "o'clock". The other is that JM said after breaking up with Simpson it had renewed meaning and added this last phrase. Guess where both Simpson and Hewitt live? Right ... you gotta take "the 10 and the 2" to get there.
