Believe Lyrics

I sit alone and watch the clock
Trying to collect my thoughts
All I think about is you
And so I cry myself to sleep
And hope the devil I don't meet
In the dreams that I live through

Believe in me
I know you've waited for so long
Believe in me
Sometimes the weak become the strong
Believe in me
This life's not always what it seems
Believe in me
Cause I was made for chasing dreams

All the smiles you've had to fake
And all the shit you've had to take
Just to lead us here again
I never had the things to say
To make it all just go away
To make it all just disappear

Believe in me
I know you've waited for so long
Believe in me
Sometimes the weak become the strong
Believe in me
This life's not always what it seems
Believe in me
Cause I was made for chasing dreams

Its my life
Its my choice
Hear my words
Hear my voice
And just believe

I sit alone and watch the clock
Trying to collect my thoughts
And all I think about is you

If you believe in me
That life's not always what it seems
Believe in me
Cause I was made for chasing dreams

Believe in me
I know you've waited for so long
Believe in me
Sometimes the weak become the strong
Believe in me
This life's not always what it seems
Believe in me
Cause I was made for chasing dreams

The first verse speaks to me because I don't like going to sleep sometimes because of the fear of where my mind will take me in my dreams. I feel like I'm going through this right now with a girl. Essentially I like her, but she's been hurt in the past and isn't willing to give it a chance. I just want to tell her to believe in me because I'm not those other guys, and to give me a chance.

I can relate to that, but at a different angle. I have a girl that I am effectively head over heels in love with. It even seemed like we where going to make it for a long time as we just kept getting closer and closer, but I moved away for one semester and things where different for her when I came back. She hadn't been ready to commit to me when we where near one another, and I had hoped she was when I got back, and she was, but not to me.

I have however not given up...

This song is a continuation of Staind's growth not just musically, but as people. Aaron Lewis has come a LONG way since their first album "Tormented," and I just love how this shows how far he's come. He's gone from writing "I can't see through this, I can't do this anymore" (Home, Dysfunction) to "Believe in me, because I was made for chasing dreams."

I love how Staind has always dealth with touch times in life without succumbing to them. While contemporary bads like Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance speak lovingly of things like giving in, committing suicide, etc, Staind has always been about finding a way to rise above the misery to make it to see a better day, no matter how much it hurts.

I love Staind and have so much respect for Aaron Lewis. I hope he keeps writing songs for a long time to come.

This is the best song ever. Staind is the best band ever.

This song is pretty much self-explainatory.

Can someone please help me. My boyfriend and I broke up 2 months ago. He said he couldnt do it anymore. We fought but loved each other alot. He has alot of financial issues. He has 2 close friends that I didnt get along with so well. So he ran. Told me to listen to this song and Sorry by Buckcherry. Said hes never coming back but still talks to me alot. Distant and a lil cold usually. Not sure what to think, wish he would come back eventually. ...

Sorry to disagree but to me this ain't Staind's best song I'll agree it is good but they have several songs that are good but one good thing about this is it's full of hope instead of being depressing.

Oh plus your right STAIND is the best rock band ever!

Im thinking he might be talking about god.

@macdadee I think so as well. Weak becoming the strong, for example, is a major message of Christianity, and if you change me with Me the song takes on a whole new meaning.

I sent this song to a very dear friend of mine before he died of cancer. The reason I sent this song was that I wanted him to believe in me, that I'd always be his friend, that I'd be there for him, no matter what. The lyrics spoke to me in a very powerful way. When I found out he was dying, he was all I could think about, and I did cry myself to sleep many nights. The line "I never had the things to say/To make it all just go away/To make it all just disappear" was what I personally interpreted as, I just wanted to make his cancer go away, but I couldn't. But even so, I wanted to BELIEVE, and I wanted him to BELIEVE that maybe it would go into remission, and the line "Sometimes the weak become the strong" was to encourage him, because maybe, just MAYBE, he'd somehow come out of it - the weak becoming the strong. And the line, "I was made for chasing dreams" spoke to me too, because it really was just a dream I was chasing that he'd be all right.

Even after all these years, Aaron is still an amazng lyricist. That said, I think this is another one of Aaron's esplanitory songs which he's all to famous for. I think this one is for Vanessa. He's telling her to believe in him no matter what because he loves her and cares about her and their three daughters he always will.

wow this is a really quality song. I love the "cause I was made for chasing dreams line". Just absolutely moving. I think this song is all about how the singer wants a girl to trust and let herself fall fully in love with him. She's been through shit in the past and, as citric said, doesn't really want to give him a chance, but he's trying to convince her he can make this time different

I agree with serenity that this song is really moving. The lyrics are pretty simple, but powerful. I interpret it as a reflection - of all the things he's thankful for, ashamed of, and his hopes. Most of them revolve around the person(s) he's thinking about and that's what's really beautiful about the song. Can't wait for their new CD!
