Truth Begins Lyrics
This is where the truth begins
Where teardrops glance the sallow skin
You lose your will
And I can lend you mine
The Westway wall?s so tall and bleak
Reflect the words we dare not speak
By the bottle?s end
We may have done our time
What you want is to stay away from people like me
Who twist most everything they see
And leave the gray old world behind you
So sow it up, kid, have some clout
We?ll do some wine and fall about
The sun will shine again tomorrow
Oh, oh, oh, we?ll look beyond the parapet
We are just bums lest you forget
We can beg, steal and borrow
Well, you say the pills will sort me out
Embolden me against
The manifestations of fear and doubt
I just forgot who I used to be
So, now I'm strung
Somewhere between a dream
And the humdrum day to day routine
A laurel wreath on the door to my heart
What you want is to wash your face and try to breathe
Forget your mind and shut your eyes so that you can see
And leave the gray old world behind you
So sow it up, kid, have no doubt
We?ll walk the line and have it out
The sun will shine again tomorrow
Oh, oh, oh, for all the friends you've ever met
Some you'll love and some forget
Just hold on for tomorrow
So here's to now and all of us
With our sweet hearts we tried to make a brand new start
May the fabric never tear us apart
And some day when we're in the cold
Here's a semblance we can hope
So pick a posy and put it on your heart for me
So, now I move and if you're in
It wouldn't hurt just to give it a try and win
Don't forget who you're meant to be
What you want is to get a bike and do wheelies
But I bet you can't do ?em half as good as me
Throw it out when it's over, it's over
So sow it up, kid, have some clout
We?ll go to mine and sulk about
How the sun will shine tomorrow
For all the friends you've not yet met
Some would die for you, I?ll bet
So hold on for tomorrow
So sow it up, kid, have some clout
We'll go to mine and fuck about
The sun will shine again tomorrow
For all friends you've not yet met
Some would die for you, I bet
So hold on for tomorrow
This is where the truth begins
For more than seven deadly sins
And even though
I may have hurt your mind
Where teardrops glance the sallow skin
You lose your will
And I can lend you mine
Reflect the words we dare not speak
By the bottle?s end
We may have done our time
Who twist most everything they see
And leave the gray old world behind you
We?ll do some wine and fall about
The sun will shine again tomorrow
Oh, oh, oh, we?ll look beyond the parapet

One of DPT's greatest song.. so fucking amazing it brings tears to my eyes each time I listen to it
I think it's about someone who looks back on evrything he's accomplished so far and realizes it's worth nothing. He becomes aware of the fact that life isn't what it used to be but he cannot do anything against this "humdrum day to day routine". On the other hand, there's still hope, as he keeps repeating "the sun will shine again tomorrow" and "so hold on for tomorrow". The narrator keeps saying that to his friend/whoever he's talking to, even if he doesn't really believe any kind of future is possible.
A genuine masterpiece. (L)
One of my favourites from the new album.
I think this is simply about coming of age and losing sight of who you really are, becoming disillusioned, but the narrator is telling his friend that he can be nostalgic about the future as well as the past. That you have a chance to be whoever you want. Its kinds soppy when I think about it.
oh shit, this song's great.
My favourite song of all time, I cry everytime I hear it x It is like the narrator is telling his friend to look toward the future optamistically and have hope even if they have list the will to go on. It is also about friendship, "for all the a you've ever met, some you'll love and some forget, just hold on for tomorrow" and " some will die for I bet". This is a beautiful song, carl has really shown a lot of feeling in this, perhaps for peter? X
beg steal or borrow is a babyshambles song ;) hi reference to peter
It sounds to me like it's about Pete Doherty... I know that's cliched but it makes sense. It seems to be about Carl wanting to make up with a friend after a fight or something, he starts off with describing their friendship, how much they rely on each other, then hints that something has gone wrong. As the chorusy bit comes in, the music cheers up and he starts saying that they need to put it all behind them and that everything will be ok? "What you wants to get a bike and do wheelies I bet you can't do 'em half as good as me Throw it out When it's over it's over" The tone here is light hearted, showing that he wants things to go back to the way they were, friendly. Of course, this could be about any friend, but I would guess Pete because of the "beg steal or borrow" reference and also because Carl and Pete did have a massive fall-out?
Anyway, it's an amazing song, the line "the sun will shine again tomorrow" always cheers me up because it's true, no matter how bad things are, there will always be something to look forward to :)
