Deep Blue

At first I was hoping it was the computer named Deep Blue, but this song is still pretty catchy. Besides, I guess computers are a little cliché in electronica.

"I'm sorry for the news the other day Let's go and play before they take you down" What did Deep Blue do for them want to take her down?

I think the speaker wants to protect her friend in this song, so she's telling her all these things to make her feel better. Also, the speaker is in love with the audience, and this makes the audience (Deep Blue) nervous about the situation. Maybe Deep Blue isn't ready for a relationship?

I could be way off with this interpretation, but I wish more people came onto this site to give a better interpretation.

Maybe they're running away, and Deep blue doesn't want to runaway anymore, so she/he Makes it last more than a day, so they can catch them.

I think "Deep Blue" is a troubled boy or an outcast, (or girl) perhaps with a dark history, + Mira is trying to add light to his life. I think she's fascinated by him + wants to run away with him. She wants to give him all that she has, but because he's not used to being loved, it scares him.

these lyrics are wrong. i could never really enjoy this song because i couldn't sing along with the correct lyrics. i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. hahaha. here are the 100% CORRECT, OFFICIAL lyrics.

Deep blue is down and feeling blue and here she comes to change all that. Her determination to cheer him up is scaring him because he doesn't trust her and thinks her attempts to have fun with him has an ulterior motive. His trying to figure her out but she just wants to escape with him. The vocals sound eerie, blurred and oozing. His feeling blue but her comes a ray of sunlight. Should he trust it?

I signed in again for the first time in years, just to backup majic316. It does seem like a song about trying to open up a very self-protective and scared individual.

Even though I would agree that the song is about a "self-protective and scared individual", I also think that Deep Blue refers to the famous chess computer. Especially the first lines (take you to the power station and let's go and play before they take you down) indicate to this interpretation. The chess computer is a symbol for artificial intelligence, it was a full-value chess opponent, just like a human. I think the song just toys with the idea of considering Deep Blue as a human or of comparing an inhibited person with a computer trying to be human. Of course a computer is unable to cope with feelings and if Deep Blue was human, he would act like the scared person in the lyrics, scared and overwhelmed by feelings, unable to smile an show feelings.
