It actually might be one of Grimm's fairy tales. The Worn Out Dancing Shoes is about twelve princesses that sneak out at night to dance with twelve princes in an underground castle. And it probably is also a love song to Shawn's girlfriend.

I think that this song is, in fact, just a love song. Actually it is one of my favorite songs ever and probably my favorite off of Where Myth Fades to Legend, and it is actually my song with my girlfriend.

I wouldn't say that it's the first and ONLY love song. I think that almost ALL of their songs are love songs, to an extent. It just depends. Usually, though, it's sort of a conflicted love, or a painful one. Maybe the loss of a loved one, like in Early Mourning. It's just that this song is the only one with the direct "I love you" message.
