Recentely I read in an interview that this song was inspired form the fairy tale hansel and gretel I guess it's told from the view of hansel

am i hearing things or what...? i think the interlude at the start of this track is somewhat similar to the piano intro of as you wish.

but yes, this song is based on hansel and gretel: "forget about tonight, tomorrow will be here so soon and we'll be busy singing the wicked witch is dead..."

i agree totally. third best on album (red and dying evening and better luck... are before it in my opinion) um i think this girl wronged him and he's out for revenge and telling her that he means it as she tries to find forgiveness

Okay.. this is my first serious interpretation, so reply if it helped or didn't =]

• I think this is basically a guy being pissed at his girlfriend or someone close to him, and she is taunting him, and he is about to snap, and most likely he's gunna hurt her. But he is also scared of the consequences at the same time...

"Close your eyes and let your mind escape into a world of dreams, I won't wake you. Close your eyes and keep them shut, The next part isn't going to be a very pretty sight"

*Okay, right here he is probably causing some sort of injure or pain to her, but telling her to relax, and pretend it's not happening, like almost sarcastically, and warning her that things are going to get worse soon enough.

*Ugh, this part kind of confuses me... umm, he's saying to maybe ignore all that he has done to her thus far and to just know tomorrow will be different (she'll be dead?). And references to the Wizard of Oz... maybe "the wicked witch" represents the girl or whoever this song talks about. And then maybe he is talking about how the past is real.

"Who's laughing now? Blood pours from her dry mouth (Oh, how..!) as she begs for mercy (...she screams!) You think you'll win my forgiveness? (Awww,)Sweetheart, you're sadly mistaken!

*This is basically the guy getting revenge, making the girl pay for what she has done, and now he is doing the taunting and hurting, not her. And he is having alot of fun, getting a high off of her screaming, and letting her know he's not gunna stop or forgive her. She is going to die.

"You shouldn't have brought us! (It's time...!) You shouldn't have hurt us! (...baby!) You've not one clue what you've started, but trust me... You'll know when I'm finished!"

*He's telling her that none of this would be happening if she hadn't done him (...and his friends "us"?) wrong. She doesn't know how bad she's affected him, but she will know when he is done torturing her, and she is dead. Or maybe she won't know, cuz she's dead. =]

"You'd better run faster than that! I know you're feeling scared but so am I, Don't you dare turn around...Hold on as tight as you can! I know that you're afraid but so am I, There's no time for tears...run till you can't feel your legs!"

*This is him feeling regret, telling her to run from him. He admits to being afraid of what he is doing, maybe even himself. He wants her to live in a way, and to escape from him.

Well since alesana based their songs on the straightforward meanings of fairytales... i take it this is the wizard of oz.

but if it has a back meaning it would be that there is a couple and the guy has an ex or something and he and his girlfriend kill her and then they are happy together forever... yeah.

Most of the songs in this album are from the Grimm's Brother's fairy tales, with the exception of As You Wish and All Night Dance Parties in the Underground. This one is about Hansel and Gretel. Just because one line happens to be in The Wizard of Oz does not mean it's about it.
