This is definitely about sleeping beauty.Rosamond was her real name and of course the uninvited thirteenth was the one who cursed her. I think it's in the point of view of the uninvited thirteenth and the prince.many princes before him had tried to wake sleeping beauty up but before they could reach her they got pierced by the thorns. The uninvited thirteenth is talking about revenge and killing the both of them.as for the prince is talking about saving her and how he struggles to pass the thorns. In the end he reaches her and kisses her.His prize is his darling Rosamond.
Alesana writes their songs so brilliantly! A lot of their songs are based off stories. Pretty much the whole album "On Frail Wings Of Vanity And Wax" is based off ancient Greece/Roman stories/myths. Some people think they are just singing stories. I think these songs have a lot more meaning and go a lot deeper than people think. You can think of it as just a story being sang, yes, but if you really think about it these songs can mean a lot! These guys are freaking brilliant!

I don't think it's a bad ending to Sleeping Beauty. I'm not sure though. But it is definitely about Sleeping Beauty, hence the title and all that mess. Haha.
This is my interpretation of the song...
a man fell in love with a girl, but the girl already has a boyfriend... "in spite of doubt, I have to break the spell... a lovely day to be tortured by dreams of you..."
and so the girl's boyfriend got insulted, and treated the girl and everyone badly... "you should have known better than to insult me, that won't happen again... sleep, i'll pretend that you died, and as you rest may your youth be stripped away from you, sleep my precious the darling rosamond, may nightmares lay with you, revenge is mine..."
but the girl is not happy with the one she's with, and she compares her suffering to a nightmare... "her sweet lips oh so fair, to awake is now everything i crave...... save me, help me, someone, anyone please can you hear me, my eyes will i ever see light of day again, never..."
