Let the Flames Begin (with Oh Father ending) Lyrics
What a shame
We all became such fragile, broken things
A memory remains just a tiny spark
I give it all my oxygen
To let the flames begin
So let the flames begin
Oh, glory
Oh, glory
This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is what will be our glory
Somewhere weakness is our strength
And I'll die searching for it
I can't let myself regret such selfishness
My pain and all the trouble caused
No matter how long
I believe that there's hope
Buried beneath it all, and
Hiding beneath it all, and
Growing beneath it all, and...
This is how we'll dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out
This is how we'll stand when
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be our glory
Reaching as I sink down into light
Reaching as I sink down into light
This is how we dance when
When they try to take us down
This is how we'll sing out
This is how we'll stand when
When they burn our houses down
This is what will be our glory
Oh Father, oh Father,
Father well I am ready,
won't you let it begin,
cause I am here now,
I want to dance in,
the mighty palm of your hand.
We all became such fragile, broken things
A memory remains just a tiny spark
I give it all my oxygen
To let the flames begin
So let the flames begin
Oh, glory
When they try to take us down
This is what will be our glory
And I'll die searching for it
I can't let myself regret such selfishness
My pain and all the trouble caused

So happy someone put the live version of this up. This was never one of my favorite songs by them, until I heard the WalMart Soundcheck where they added this outro. It gave me chills. So this now IS a favorite by them. They seriously need to record this version. And I'm pretty sure it says, "Father, oh Father, oh Father, oh Father, Father, I am ready, won't You let it begin, 'cause I am here now, I want to dance in, the MIGHTY palm of Your hand."
Indeed they do need to make an actual recording of this song.

where did you here its about George Bush? haha thats so ridiculous. its obviously about God bro
LizzieBear, you need to grow up and realize that insulting someone elses beliefs because you don't believe them is one of the rudest, immature things a person can do. You need to get your priorities in check instead of bashing other peoples.
And my God is existent. My username may be 'Uncontrollable', but I'll tell you what- The One who does control me is my God.
I think your rght she can think whatever she wants but she shouldn't expose it to other Christians like me.

I've listened to this song at least 50 times and it still gives me chills every time
i'm honestly agnostic, and i still find hayley and the band's passion for what they believe in admirable. i love this band, and i love that they believe so strongly in their faith. if they didn't, if they had no faith, they wouldn't be as nearly as good as they are now.
This is my 2nd favorite song off the RIOT album i love it so much! I have seen them live three times and i love it when they sing this live because every time they do its just so amazing!!! You just get aucked into their world like final fantasy or something and you just never want hayley to stop singing! I got the dvd of the final riot tour and when i was watching it i was just enjoying every minute of it. now like i said ive seen them live performing this song but ive never seen her perfrom it with the Oh father ending. the 1st time i actually saw it was on the dvd. I was watching it with my dad we're both big fans have been since 05. i just watched her go down on her knees and sing this with her hand raised like she was singing to GOD himself and it felt like she was!!!! I was so blown away, i was entranced it was a great feeling. Then i turned to my dad and said " we never saw her do that when she sang this, thats the best part"!!!!! I was alittle sad because i would have just loved to see her do this with my own two eyes. but i love the song even more now with the Oh father ending its just beautiful!
its about george bush!
love the ending. and i don't think it's about george bush. the "oh father" part is about God and asking him to help her find faith in the troubled times that they had on tour. pretty much genius lyrics.
Oh father Oh father Oh father Oh father Father, well I am ready, Won't you let it begin? Cos I am here now, I want to dance in The mighty palm of your hand.
LizzieBear, their God might be nonexistent to you, but its not nonexistent to them. Obviously, they notice and believe in something we fail to see that makes them glad to be alive. I don't know if I can speak for you, but, every time I see this, I think to myself, "What am I missing?"
Anyway, all the new outros are beautiful for their songs. Their lyrics are always honest and amazing. This definitely is my favorite song on RIOT!
Take it to the next level go to church. It's great knowing someones up there loving you. I think you won't be sorry when you do!
