Agoraphobia Lyrics

Come for me
You come for me
Come for me
Comfortably
You cover me
Cover me
Comfortably
Comfortably

I had a dream
No longer to be free
I want only to see
Four walls made of concrete
Six by six enclosed
See me on video
Oh oh oh

feed me twice a day
I want to fade away
Away

come for me
Cover me
Come for me
Come for me
You cover me
Cover me
Comfortably
Comfort me

and after some time
I know I would go blind
But seeing only binds
The vision to the eye

I lose my voice I know
But I have nothing left to say
It is

(nothing left to pray)
No echo in this space

people with agoraphobia have panic attacks in public places. they begin to avoid those places which they expect will make them feel more anxious. gradually their "world" gets smaller and smaller, until they refuse to leave home.

we both have it, my mother and I. she will leave home only to a small number of familiar destinations: and even then, only if accompanied by certain trusted people. if these people fail to provide constant reassurance, she becomes disoriented and unpredictable.

being 25 years younger, I haven't yet reached that point. although in recent years I have noticed it's becoming increasingly difficult to leave my apartment, and I must follow time-consuming rituals/compulsions.

self-imposed house arrest. extend this notion farther, making it more and more literal until nothing is "safe" except the space around your body where you will remain until you die. or, what encloses it after death.

I wish it were something I could regard with intellectual curiosity (implying emotional distance). but it's too real.

that last part was beautiful. my heart goes out to you, man.

in an interview bradford said this song was inspired by something fictional he saw about someone wanting to be buried alive, but nursed constantly so he was always on the edge of death

Agoraphobia means the fear of crowds or open areas, so the buried alive thing could make sense. It sounds as if he says come for me, comfort me, and cover me, so the above lyrics might be right.

I love this song. It's so relaxing and poetic. I can't get it out of my head.

My Opinion

When I bought the CD, the cover had a review on it that said "A disturbing plea for erotic asphyxiation". Upon listening, I heard three things: Cover Me, Comfort Me, and Come (or "Cum") For Me.

Disturbing Indeed.

the whole album should be called agoraphobia.

Cover Me (Slowly) is the song that gives the feel of agoraphobia best though.

Lovely album. I should have paid more attention to it when I got it. I was terrified to leave the house for a year. The panic attacks were horrible. I then could only stay in the same room, and even moving to another room or turning off the TV would be enough to make me vomit. Of course those were dark times, but I don't mind remembering them. I love the aura of the music.
