Pillow Talk Lyrics
Well You Can Bark All Night
But You're Never Gonna Bite
So I Don't Care
Because It's Dark And Light
And Their Fighting For The Right
To Choose Your her
Well You Can Swing Your Arms
You Can Work Your Charms
But Not On Me
You Can Scream And Shout
That Your Fire's Burning Out
So Don't Blow Air
Swimming In A Sea That's Never Been This Close To Me, Yeah
You've Got A Lot To Answer For
I've Got A Couple Of Questions More
Cause You Know I'm Right
Most The Time
You Can Bear A Cross
You Can Tick A Box
It's Just A Square
With You Knuckles Grazed
It's The Way You Raise Your Families There
A Sucker For The Sun And Now The Summer's Got A Gun, Yeah
You've Got A Lot To Answer For
I've Got A Couple Of Questions More
Cause You Know I'm Right
Most The Time
Burn The Books That You Adorned
With Words You Stole From Fools Before
And Those Words They Write
Ain't Too Bright
And Those Words You Write Keep Me Up All Night
All Night
You've Got A Lot To Answer For
I've Got A Couple Of Questions More
Cause You Know I'm Right
Most The Time [x2]
But You're Never Gonna Bite
So I Don't Care

this is my favourite track off the album :)
this song is about voter apathy and general disregard for action and consequence. there are references to empty promises and plans in the first verse. all talk and no action.
'swimming in a sea that's never been so close to me' could be about climate change and rising sea levels.
i think the chorus is directed at the people in charge and in government. particularly the extended second chorus which talks about rehashed policies and little change or progression.
the second verse is a clear reference to voting (tick a box / it's just a square).
