Eyes Wide Terrified Lyrics
Pulling down the blinds, blocks what's left of the stars
So I'm tripping over bottles, tracing footsteps in the dark
Tomorrow will be a good day for broken glass
There are men in this room, who would pay for this
Missed calls to say I missed the mornings most
You can't talk about it, you can't talk about it
Keeping (we) secrets (we) playing (can't talk about it) at witches
Our bodies stretched out, our bodies stretched out
Casting sudden spells is not the answer
We will build ourselves on hope and progress
Awake at water's edge, your eyes wide terrified
We will build ourselves on hope and fortune
I wouldn't say, I wouldn't say it, to your face, I'm sure
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one (SURE!)
It talks about confidence, I'd give it a month if I'm lucky
And I'm not that lucky
And these t-shirts don't fold themselves
But he falls asleep on her shoulder
Every shift they spend together (which is most nights)
You can't talk about it, you can't talk about it
Keeping (we) secrets (we) playing (can't talk about it) at witches
Your bodies stretched out, our bodies stretched out
Casting sudden spells is not the answer
We will build ourselves on hope and progress
Wake in water says your eyes wide terrified
We will build ourselves on hope or something
I wouldn't say, I wouldn't say it, to your face, I'm sure
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one (SURE!)
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one
It talks about confidence, I'd give it a month if I'm lucky
Your jealous friends have got to get laid
The only thing that's stopping you is more of the same
Now you get it, a feeling, emotions, attention
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one
Your life is a song, your life is a song
Your life is a song, but not this one
Your life is a song, your life is a song

i love this song. it reminds me of broken glass, all tragic and beautiful. YOUR LIFE IS A SONG, BUT NOT THIS ONE!
That's not quite right, but pretty much, this is exact:
Pulling down the blinds, blocks what's left of the stars So I'm tripping over bottles, tracing footsteps in the dark Tomorrow would be a good day for broken glass There are men in this room, who would pay for this Missed calls to say I missed the morning's most.

I'm gonna look MAJOR geek now but...
I read in an article that Alexei was briefly 'obsessed' about putting "or something" into the lyrics of this song.... So I reckon that it's not 'hope and something', it's 'hope OR something' very small pedantic not BUT Alexei clearly wanted it that way for a reason :-)
I think it's "Awake at water's edge, your eyes wide terrified" the first time, then on the second time it's "Awake at water's edge, my eyes wide terrified"
I remember seeing a video of them doing karaoke of EWT and I think those were the lyrics up there.
El Clembo and Lanny are both right.
