Them Kids Lyrics
no comments? this song is awesome and the music video is pretty sick too it explains the song a lot its about simpler times and how much they have changed since the 50's
this is agreat song, but its also about how kids today all can dance to rap and hip hop no problem, but if you ask anyone to dance to music from the 50s through 70s they wont be able to
Kids won't know how to dance to real rock and roll, good old 50's-70's music when they hear it, and the artists trying to make it in the business that aren't rap or hip hop might as well give their songs away, because the music industry is focussed on what's "now".
I knew Sam Roberts should have gotten in the ring with Christina Aguilera in butt-less chaps a few years back... -- Sarcasm by the way. Good old Rock and Roll from Sam Roberts is unappreciated by many listening chewy ear bubble gum that's so repetitive. Lyrical genius is what the Sam Roberts Band is, and those who listen to him have a connection to the music.
Well, that's my very unprofessional opinion anyways. :\
You know, I really like Sam Roberts a lot. On the rare occasion that I tolerate dances at my school, they play maaaaaybe two good, real rock and roll songs, and you should see them dancing to them. Come onnnn, what the fuck are you doing? They really just don't know how to do it, and it sucks. I mean, I try and grab their hand and teach them, but I'm not sure they get it.

Tune kicks ASS
First off, this song is catchy as hell and grew on me alot. But is there more to it than just the obvious chorus? Think the_howee was onto something there about the simpler times, mainly the lyrics about the man on the street corner playing guitar and how the kids are "always on the phone and they always gotta have control", and how these good ol' days are under attack and are a dying breed ("we're taking them back, we're taking them back"). "The melody that you thought you found reveals that she's been sleeping around", can't quite pinpoint it but sounds something the lines of the process of creating songs has become corrupted? I may be way off but I'm really liking this song and album suddenly. "I can't sell my songs so I'm gonna have to give them away/ I can't sell myself since my hair started turning grey", perhaps since he's considered older there isn't a place for him in the mainstream?
I'm kind of overanalyzing past the point of the chorus. :)
"The melody that you thought you found reveals that she's been sleeping around" I kind of thought of this as the music someone's playing/listening to may seem original at first but it's really been used a hundred times before.

Its true kids dont know how to dance any more, it's only jumping around and grinding, no one knows how to dance like they did in the 40's-70's and if you did dance like they did you would get killed because theres no room to do any kind of good dancing exept grinding, you would just get pushed over, leaving them no choice to do what their doing.
Now music is just about Sex, break ups, Girls, money and sex and when you thought you found a song that stayed true to the oldies with the sound it just ends up being on how a girl sleeped around and that the guys heart broken.
And how poeple would write and play songs that go back to the oldies are rejected because their too old and the record people want a fresh new look to sing about girls.
