the song is definately about trying to find something to fill a gap in your life...and looking for the answers in all the wrong places

It's about our slavery for a substance or addiction to a thing like tv, magazines and etc. It says that everyone is the slave of something and no one does a thing about the real problems of our society because we're slaves !

Btw disasterbation means:

how we choose to play in to this materilism we are being marketed to so mutch that is becoms a way of thinking ,we try to follow the celebrities and try to become there image by buying stuff that they use and trying to fit a image that so called ideal person should look like ,distracting us creating dream lives our lives ,that have adopted that Vicarious way of living standing back and watching not doing anything about it

This song is about society in general and businesses and such.. I'd go more in depth but I'm not in the mood and I'm still listening to the CD.

When I first heard this song, it hit me that it was about different drugs. Upon listening to more of the songs in the Division album, I was certain this actually had to do with different "drugs". Mind me, that I only listened to this song once, hence my early interpretation. Anyways, I'm sure of it now, that this song has to deal with the fact that the youth today, along with most adults find a natural high in all the wrong things. Such as the media. Different TV shows, and so forth. Anything that the media has brought in to seduce the youth into watching, or commending the un-natural acts portrayed in the media.

Easily said. Now, I can't say that I have never followed a trend, and it's easier said that you have. Jesse, has strong words within these lyrics.

Using money to buy happiness, or instant gratification.

Society today has honestly grown into some selfish bastards. Hopefully in the future things will change. If they do, I feel sorry for our kids who'll look back and see what dumbasses we are, and how we managed to fuck up our generation.

About watching things like school bus crashes and feeling excitment. Kinda reminds me of Vicarious.

Sex is used to sell everything and anything nowadays, it has no limits to what it can be used for or with...Even Disney will go there. We are also infatuated with death as a society, when a celebrity dies or people in general....It's always the headline of news. We are seemingly bored quick and easy like some kind of massive ADD sweeping the nation, everything needs to be faster and harder as we progress. What's "in" now, won't be or even matter soon enough but people just keep chasing the trends.

Everything that is [resented to us in society is like the form of a drug, we think we need it but we really don't. And everything is like that, so pick one of these bad aspects of society and enjoy it I guess. Like drugs it's a quick fix, and in the end unfulfillable.

I think Disasterbation means how we feed into it all and indulge ourselves my our own will, we are sold it and we buy into it. Materialism is killing the growth of people, and most of all you're not lloking out for yourself.

We should be able to make choice for ourselves, and not let some designed image of what you're supposed to be affect what you want to me. In the end it's your choice, although media plays a huge role in influencing people.

So all in all I think this song is talking about materialism, and not being yourself while striving to be something your not but are basically told to be by the media.
