I'm Only Happy When it Rains

I think the song could mean that she is taking the energies of others which feel inferior to her in some way and this causes complications such as sexual tension or love that cannot be obtained because of circumstance. So whilst everyone is in desire and somewhat in pain (since love is based on insecurity by a certain extent) she dwells on peoples weakness as her motivator.

I heard the lead singer of Garbage say in interview that I'm only happy when it rains is about people who have to out do you in bad things that have happened. For instance when you are having a conversation about something sad that may have happened to you in your childhood and the other person has to out do you with sad stuff that is so much sadder than your stories could ever possibly be. The song is making fun of people like that. By the way that lead singer of garbage talks real sexy doesn't she?

Well the producer of Nirvanas Nevermind album actually played in this band and you can tell from the grunge guitar and the wall of sound especially in this song. This song reminds me of a girl i know who says this song describes her to a t. Its all about people who are never really happy. Next times it rains think of this amazing song.

This song needs more comments. It's one of their best and a landmark of the 90's rock music And tallandrew1982, the producer of the Nirvanas Album Nevermind didn't just play in this band, he is part of the band Butch Vig is the drummer.

About what many would consider Borderline Personality Disorder. She only gets enjoyment out of her own misery and the misery of others. When it rains, nobody else enjoys the day and that is her comfort zone.

I think I have a different take on this song. To me it reminds me of a very attractive woman who just is so bored because everyone is always nice to her that she makes up her own problems. I once saw an interview with Angelina Jolie and you could tell this was just a girl that got everything handed to her so in order to feel important I guess she created all these problems for herself. Of course she didn't say that in the interview, but watching it that was what I thought. I thought basically here is this spoiled brat so to get attention she would do things to shock people. I've known girls like this that are extremely attractive and get everything handed to them so to try to seem edgy they make up problems-they date psychos, cut themselves, take drugs, etc. That's what the song reminds me of anyway.
