Head Down Lyrics

HEAD DOWN

you
what you looking at?
head down
too late for that
what you want
what you get
know your place
don't ever forget

and this is not my face
and this is not my life
and there is not a single thing here
i can recognize
this is all a dream
and none of you are real
i'll give anything
i'll give anything

hey you
what you running from?
all your hate
what you've become
bet you didn't think
it would happen to you
all used up
half way through

and this is not my face
and this is not my life
and there is not a single thing here
i can recognize
this is all a dream
and none of you are real
i'll give anything
i'll give anything

I think its about someone having been told what to do and think for so long he forgets who he really is and questions his and everybody else's existence. but thats just my theory.

Great song, powerful chorus!

I'm pretty sure most of the songs on the slip are about some kind of personality disorder Trent has experienced. It might have been enhanced for Trent because of all the drugs he did in the past, but things like this usually form on their own because of some type of trauma. I myself get this weird, empty feeling sometimes that the world is unreal and far away (and I don't do any drugs).

So I'm going through and trying to figure out the best albums of the year, and without a doubt I'm going to make this best song of the year.

At first I thought this song was about having an existential crisis, or split personality, but recently it means something else to me. The slip really shows Trent growing up and changing, and even though he felt strongly about things when he was younger, there is more maturity now, which I am really get into now that I am getting older too. Whowouldathunkit. This song is about the responsibility that comes with being either famous, rich, or powerful. When he was younger, he didn't understand this, neither did I. We all want the big easy. gravy train, but that's not how it is. When you are successful, other people think they owe you something, or if you're in the public eye, then people think they know you, who don't, and that is where it gets existential, maybe he even began questioning who he is, although I think it really has to have to do with his 'status', which is why you get huge celeb break downs, because they don't know wtf is going on. So here's his advice man, keep your head down, (Although it's too late for Trent). Thanks

... Can I just say that I love this goddamn song? I'm not worthy, Trent!

Fucking amazing.

He's run away from his problems, and realised it's not where he should be. He should be back dealing with them.

If this fits into the Year Zero ARG, he's run to somewhere where he won't be hunted, but he knows he should go back and fight with the Resistance.

A struggle with his alter-ego He's becoming someone he doesn't want to be

definitely about someone who is unable to cope with reality.

(by the way, soundgarden has a track on superunknown called "head down" as well and it's also track 6 off that album... i thought that was pretty interesting)
